Okay, I have been to the Island of Oahu, five times, and really love it there.
My hubby, son, and I have stayed at the Pacific Beach Hotel the three times out of five, and really enjoyed our stays there. It is located right across the street from Waikiki Beach.
Also, if you do not rent a vehicle to get around, theBus (public transportation is your best bet!! You can buy a four-day bus pass at any ABC store for $20.00. That means that you can get on and off any thebus for the four consecutive days.
There are stores all around, places to eat (my favorite store soooo far is the ABC stores (they are practically on every block..ABC "all blocks covered"). A good place to eat would be Cheeseburger in Paradise Waikiki. They have entertainment there nightly. Good food, good entertainment, and it is right across the street from the beach and across the street from Pacific Beach Hotel!!
There is an awesome dinner cruise (been on it three times) called the Navatek 1 Sunset Buffet Dinner Cruise. They have a full dinner buffet, entertainment. It is about a 2hr dinner cruise, and you see Waikiki and Diamond Head. During the winter months (Nov-April), you can see the whales!! The food is really good, and you have fun!!
Pearl Harbor/Arizona Memorial is a must see!! There is still oil coming up from the USS Arizona!! You can actually look beneath the memorial, and see part of the USS Arizona right beneath you. It is a tribute to all of the people who gave their lives that fateful day.

You can check out http://www.hawaiiactivities.com and http://travel.yahoo.com for the things you can do there. The Island of Oahu has the most people of all the islands and you can find many people, cars, shops and buildings there. There are way less of those on the other islands. Most of the other islands are mostly nature and beaches. There aren't many people, shops or buildings there. The popular islands are Maui and Kauai. The Big Island is a good place to see Volcanoes and probably the only island where you can see that. Hawaii has some beautiful nature, weather and beaches but housing is very expensive there.

The best place I know of to get travel info is any AAA office. We just took a vacation and the maps and travel guides made all the difference in the world. This stuff is free to members, but if you're not maybe you know someone who is.

on your place? merely carry close out on the sea as generally as plausible, physique surf some sea coast breaks, merely get delicate back such as you suggested commence swimming parallel to the shore on a daily basis not too far out to get more suitable. Then discover some people who do surf and circulate out with them in case you are able to, in case you reside in Cali it shouldnt be that demanding to discover friends who surf. And dont difficulty approximately being out on my own, Cali is infamous for having crowds of surfers which imo is generally cases greater risky than going out by ability of your self. there are an excellent kind of user-friendly sea coast breaks and additionally you will circulate out on smaller days to easily learn without actual danger of drowning. merely have exciting obtainable, and in case you cant discover the money for classes then dont be afraid to learn on your man or woman, yet once you do determine which you circulate out on days at a sea coast it fairly is unquestionably interior of your convenience zone till you start to experience greater delicate. And merely stay removed from the surfing crowds so as which you dont piss human beings off. attempt to circulate early interior the morning on week days in case you are able to.Or out in circumstances that no person else rather desires to surf. All prepare is robust prepare.
