According to a new study, people tend to eat whatever is put in front of them – regardless of how large or small the portion size. The reason? A "culturally induced" norm that presumes the portion in front of you is appropriate. Researchers call it the “unit bias.” We don’t think about the amount of food in front of us – we just work to clean our plates until the entire “unit” is gone. And in the land of plenty, that unit has gotten a lot bigger over the years. So every time you say, “Supersize me,” you aren’t kidding. Half of your answer: eat less

Science has been generous enough to permit us a measure by which we can determine how food is converted to energy. It’s called the calorie. A calorie is the standard unit of measurement equal to the amount of heat required to raise one gram of water one degree Celsius. Blah blah blah. What you need to know about calories is that the foods you eat and the things you do can both be measured in them. If you eat more calories than you burn doing things, your body starts stashing them in places you don’t want them.

The good news is that you burn calories doing everything. Getting out of bed, washing your hair, brushing your teeth, climbing stairs, clipping your toes – everything you do requires energy. And that energy comes from the food you eat, which can be measured in calories.

I personally think most people have it all backward. We eat first, then try to work off the calories later. But it’s not all about the calories we EAT. It’s also about the calories we BURN. The more calories we burn during the course of the day, the more calories our body will “need” to sustain that level of activity. So a better strategy might be to figure out how many calories we need to sustain a healthy weight, then moderate our food intake accordingly. The other half of the answer: significantly increase your activity to burn more of the calories you consume

This is the most basic and reliable of weight loss strategies because it draws from life science fundamentals. As for the number of pounds you wish to lose (in this case 10), everyone is different. It is important to focus less on the number of pounds and more on the way you look and feel. Numbers can be misleading, and such goals can leave you feeling like a failure for having lost only 8 pounds - when 8 pounds may have been all you needed to lose to look and feel better about yourself.

I lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks but drinking lots of water and walking on treadmill for abut 10minutes/3times a day. You can go to the store and buy a walking meter. (I got mine at walmart for less than $5.00). Walk at least 10,000 steps aday from the time you get up to the time you go to bed, the meter will calculate the steps. It will average out to be 5 miles a day.

A good Cleansing always works, but only temp. There is a program called Cleanse Smart (at the health food store) where you you take a pill in the morning (which cleanses you blood) and a pill you take at night (which cleanses you colan) for 30 days. They are all natural and work, by your 3rd week into it. you might not need the night pill. Good luck, Also drink lots of water everyday like 10 8 oz. glasses a day and it will get rid of all the bad water in your body. kind of like a flush. but only temporary.

Cabbage soup diet and stick to it. (Search for it on the web).

Ten pounds would only take about a weak. Try and get some exercise in alongside it and drink lots of water.

Good luck!

Eat 250 calories less per day, and burn 250 extra calories every day. With that, you end up losing one pound a week.

Now, do a little more than that and you'll be burning even more.

Cut out most of the salts in your diet. They make you hold water, and it you cut them off, the 7-10 lbs of "water weight" that most people have (except the real skinny ones) will go away. I did it, and the weight keeps on going.

Keep your salts and sugars down, try not to eat too many calories, balance your meals with meat, vegetable, dairy and fruit, stay away from alcohol and cigaretts and excercise. Good luck.
