i was stopped for driving without insurnce until this time i assumed the car was insured. as i dont own the vehicle and i thought the car was insured will i still get points on my license

Whether the car was insured or not is a moot point ... YOU have to make sure that YOU are insured to drive it ... and you were not apparently ... so yes, your licence will be endorsed ... sorry ....

Yes. *YOU* are supposed to carry insurance on vehicle you own, and that insurance should extend to any vehicle you drive.

You should definitely make certain that any vehicle you drive is covered by insurance; it is *your* responsibility to make sure of that, just like it is *your* responsibility to make certain the vehicle isn't stolen or carrying contriband. Watch Cops for a clear demonstration of this.
