This could be from a number of reasons. Perhaps worrying too much over things or events going on in life such as job pressure, financial probs, or other things that people fret over day after day. It could also be from eating or drinking right before bed. Just try to relax grab a good book, and see if this might help. If i cant sleep, reading usually helps a little bit. Or get up do something for a little bit, try again to sleep. If nothing works, id suggest talking with your doctor.

Great question and I am sure you are not alone in not being able to sleep at night. It has been said that a warm glass of milk helps along with relaxation exercises or a warm bath. I know that I have problems sleeping at night and have tried both and they have helped me go to sleep faster.
