The answer is not clear cut. Yes and no. We appear to have many choices in life but that is possibly only what we are meant to feel. If all consciousness is interconnected then perhaps what we think of as our separate little selves walking around this world making decisions are really just parts of a whole and are influenced in what we think we are deciding by the whole. The real decisions would then be made by the whole and the "individual" would just be deluded into thinking he is choosing.

If you can get with the idea that you are not your body, but a spirit animating a body, then you can get with the idea that this reality is nothing more than a game. You as a spirit made a choice to play knowing all the rules, the good the bad the ugly of this existence. Our universe was designed by a spirit similar to a designer of a game like the sims just on a obviously more sophisticated level, but you may get the idea. As an immortal energy being playing a human for the short period of time is like a blink of an eye, the idea is to simultaneously incarnate hundreds of times in all races, genders, social standings etc all throughout time and gather experiences and overcome challenges. Think of this existence as training ground for higher and better levels of experiences. Your true self operates from the otherside this is similar to you operating from outside the xbox or whatever and not being able to interfere in most situations with your game piece which is you, and your true self has to allow you free will in trying to figure out whom you really are with memories of true self blocked. It may place situations and clues in many different ways before you but the game piece has to choose it's own path in searching for the truth when ready. There is no such thing as right or wrong, just experience. Unbelievable this may sound but if you think on it hard enough and depending on what level of awareness you as this particular game piece is equipped with you, will begin to remember or see what I'm saying.
We are not humans searching for a spiritual experience, we are spirits immersed in a human experience.

You did not exist before you were born so where does the question of choice come in. You chose birth and death the 2 extremes in a person's life. Think of all the years in between. Don't you make your own choice. By the way, wasn't posting this question your own choice? And sometimes one's choices actually lead to one's death. Tragic, but true.

I dont remember my life before birth, but every decision you make in life is a decision to live or a decision to die. You may not choose to be hit by a bus or die of cancer, but you do choose the actions which lead you there. Maybe if you pay more attention, you can avoid the bus. Maybe if you stop smoking and stress less and eat healthily you can avoid cancer. Think about it. You also have a choice to believe that you have a choice. If you believe you dont have a choice, then you wont.

Well, I may not have chosen to be born. And I definately will not choose to die. But most things that happen between are my choice. I chose the city I live in. I chose my career. I will choose to get married. Of course we all have choices.
If life were just a bunch of pre-planned events that we have no control over, what would be the point? You could not punish someone for breaking the law. They did not choose to break it, so it must not be their fault.

The concept of free will as applied to religion is seriously flawed for many reasons. Firstly, because it's nonsense. If will is truly free, then nothing causes it, which means we might as well call it 'random will' instead of free will. Why would we be held accountable for that? And if there is a cause, then it isn't free.
Secondly, it's simply not true that we choose our beliefs. Our beliefs are formed subconsciously. All we do with our conscious mind is attempt to explain why we believe what we believe, but realy, we don't know why. It's just rationalization. No matter how much you may desire to believe something, you simply can't force yourself to truly believe. Your subconscious demands rational positions.

Actually, I believe that my higher self (super-conscious?) chooses which circumstances that I am born into. And again, I feel that my higher self also knows when I've learned what I have come here to learn and it's time to go. This doesn't mean that I have any conscious knowledge of the reasons in this lifetime.
Either way, the beauty for me lies in between these two events in what I can learn and experience and the opportunities that I have to grow.

Choice is the symptom of ultimate Love. I was born of my parents love for each other. God so loved humanity that he gave them the opportunity to choose to love Him in return. For in order to truly love a person, a person must decide to Love internally.
Christ died in Love to overcome death, that dying will be no more. So my body dying is temporary, but my life will continue. This I believe is Love. A choice that interconnect each human person to our Creator.

You have a choice to live, but it takes action on your part. If you believe in predestination, you have an easy road; it requires nothing of you. But if you have free will, you must abstain from extremes. You must live a life of moderation. Very difficult.
It's your choice. Choose Life!

We don't choose to be born or to die. We will all die one day and can't stop it. We can't chose to stay alive once death is immanent.
