Sorry, did you answer your own question there?

It's just an over indulgance of anything, not just food. It's eating for the sake of eating, not sustanence.

Gluttony is the over-indulgence and over-consumption of food, drink, or intoxicants to the point of waste. In the Christian religions, it is considered one of the seven deadly sins -- a misplaced desire of food or its withholding from the needy.

Depending on the culture, it can be seen as either a vice or a sign of status. The relative affluence of the society can affect this view both ways. A wealthy group might take pride in the security of having enough food to eat to show it off, but it could also result in a moral backlash when confronted with the reality of those less fortunate.

Gluttony is the obsession with over indulgence of self! All sin can be traced to selfishness and pride.

Moderation on the other hand allows for each person to enjoy the world and all it creation. Huge meals, festivals, communal celebrations are all good and necessary activities. Done in moderation people appreciate the goodness of community, done excessively people will take for granted the blessings of food, and fellowship. In all things moderation.

Gluttony really refers to overdoing anything. Dependency on food, cigarettes, drugs, alcohol, gambling, even caffeine - anything - is gluttony. It is a sin for a good reason: these things keep our minds occupied on whatever our particular favorite is - and off of God.

No problem with the buffet once in a while - that's not like overeating every day, and thinking of nothing but food.

Gluttony refers to more than just food. Gluttony is a sin because it encourages excess of something (which is never good) and usually excess at the expense of those without. We are encouraged to share the gifts of this world with one another, not hoarde everything for ourselves.

It also goes hand in hand with the virtue of temperance, which is moderation in all things.

My husband still is freaked out by recalling Church Buffets where people made total pigs of themselves...
Gluttony is a sin because it is very similar to greed... its just wrong for one person to consume more than others... food or clothes, or whatever... its just wrong to rape our planet for personal wants and cravings

Oh expensive. enable's see...the position to start up? A.) You and the Bible agree that no individual is free from sin. surely, all of us has committed each and every sin thousands of thousands of situations. B.) We were acceptable on the sunrise of introduction. We were innocent and without sin.subsequently, our initial humanity become not what you assume that's, yet truly Godliness! If the Lord extremely hated humanity, why would he enable it to live to inform the tale? He hasn't ever thoroughly wiped the Earth sparkling of our stain. He rewards his people. C.) Nowhere interior the Bible does it say that Lucifer become an angel fallen from grace. surely, the Bible doesn't even call him Lucifer (meaning mild-bearer). That complication-free false impression is found in Paradise lost by using John Milton that is an epic poem printed in 1667. I agree with your assessment of the buffet eaters but what does it have to do with your sin question. By the way my Catholic Mom used to say that this sin was only for priests as they were always invited to people's homes and would eat everything in sight. Our priest had gout...enough said.
