He used his healing powers discriminantly. He healed certain people for His own reasons, which had nothing to do with selfishness. Even in today's world there is sickness, and some live and some don't. I guess it's part of a master plan. I would like to believe that, as I'm not well. Only in a perfect world would everyone be well - just as in a perfect world there would be no wars. And we live in an imperfect world.
And I just read something that may explain better than I could:
"Jesus performed many miracles to demonstrate that he was the Messiah. He even raised the dead. Those works attracted the crowds, but Jesus did not come to earth merely to do a social work. He came to bear witness to the truth. He knew that any material benefits He provided were temprary. Even the resurrected ones would die again. Only by bearing witness to the truth could He help some to gain everlasting life."

I believe that Jesus had the power to heal anyone "who asked." And I believe that is all they had to do. If anyone had enough faith in Jesus and asked Him to heal them he would. And I don't think He was selfish He just wanted people to believe in Him, b/c during this time He was being persecuted for what he was doing, So the more people that believed in Him the better off He was. So the main thing is the people had to be forget their pride and ask for Help to be helped or healed.

This is just my opinion here: I believe he could tell the true believers from those who were just in it for the "freebies" I know, that's a modern term, but bear with me. If you had a friend who cared about you for who you are, wether you had a million $$ or not, and you had a "friend" who cared about you as long as you were shelling out the money to fund whatever they want, who do you believe is the true friend? I think Jesus was the same way. he saw the true believers and knew those who would believe once healed. I am sure it was an incredibly hard thing to deal with, knowing you can do so much to help, but chosing not to because of what is in people hearts. I wouldn't want that "power"

okay, no one alive today was alive when Jesus was around...so guess what, we have no clue what happened back then or what "powers" Jesus had. what we have are some books written by people that were around. they told of the healing power of Jesus and God to drive home a point, not to give a historically accurate account of every act that Jesus did.

Everyone can not be healed. when it's your time to go then Jesus will let you leave. He is not being selfish. Maybe you do not believe in Jesus and you are not healed.

Most all of the people that Jesus came across He healed...but some didn't believe in him and he wanted to heal them...but you must believe in Jesus and that He is the son of God...to be healed and that applies today also..............Only believe

I don't think everyone was cured or healed. Only those that asked and believed.

Careful, you are bordering on blashphemy. He cured those that had FAITH in Him as the Son of God. For example, you don't have faith that He is the Son of God, so I doubt He would have healed you just because you were ill. Just my humble opinion.

Jesus only heals (notice the tense of the verb) those whose hearts are open to him.
