They fear the truth - In this day and age we live in, how can anybody believe in god. Do you believe in the tooth fairy, santa claus, easter bunny, etc. It is just another fairy tale from the days when the people thought the planets sourounding us where mounted on pedistals. We evolved, I believe in SCIENCE and Dinasours that roamed the planet billions of years ago. I don't believe in a man that waved his hand and said let there be light.
If there is a god - would he allow heads to be cut off of his children in iraq...If he does exsist, he can't be worth a crap!

They are afraid of atheists because anything other than what you believe and have institutionalized into others to believe in is a threat to your way of life. I know how many dumb questions you are asked when you are atheists. Religious people (in general) are afraid that they do not believe what they preach and that your point of view will show them exactly how much they do not believe. It is sad because you would think since the Bible teaches so much about tolerance and non judgment that the people who believe in it the most would be the people who are most tolerant. I pay them no mind for the most part because if you know who you are and truly believe in your convictions then what I say and do does not dictate the way that I live my life. If what they say is true the only person I will ever have to explain my actions to is God.

I come from a Christian family (Catholic and Lutheran parents - have been baptized, confirmed, and attended both churches).
I don't believe that those super reborn religious people are afraid of atheists - they just think they can save everybody.
This angers the atheists, then they ask dumb questions as well.
I just wish everyone would keep their religion and lack of religion at home - get a life - and stay out of other people's.

Why do atheists believe they have that kind of power? Are atheists consoling themselves that what they say and do is right with this false sense that everyone especially religious people (another general statement) are afraid of them?
Afraid of atheists? Why should anyone be afraid of atheists?

From the questions and answers I see here, it doesn't seem to me that religious people are afraid of atheists.
Quite the opposite, rather.
I wonder why?

and why do atheists seem so concerned with religious people?
you would think atheists would not be particularly interested in a religious forum, but I see the opposite
for many it seems, atheism is a religion and they are the missionairies of it, and very evangelical
i know why religious people want to share their "good news" and feel compelled to help others by bringing them into the fold but I have never understood why so many atheists are evangelical and why so many of them seem so angry at people of faith
but, I guess its like Gracie Allen said, "people are funnier than anybody"

Why do people insist on such broad generalizations. Not all Christians feel a certain way. Not all atheists either. Or Muslims. Or Americans. Or Men. Every single minute, someone makes a post like this and generalizes millions of people into one mindset. WE ARE ALL INDIVIDUALS!!!

Fear atheists?? You must be kidding. I fear no man, just God. I relish the opportunity to debate or dialog with an atheist or agnostic. And if they get particularly nasty, I enjoy skewering them on their own spear of inconsistency and contradiction. What is amazing is they will not believe in God, when evidence is all around them for His existence, but then accept the evolution hoax with no supporting evidence at all. I guess it is as the Bible calls them "willfully ignorant" that is, dumb on purpose.

I am somewhat "religious" -- I believe in Jesus and I'm not afraid of atheists! It's all personal... you can't make someone believe. My brother is atheists and all he wants to do it shove his beliefs down my throat. Both sides have there downs.

Atheist believe they can run to their backyard and make a human being that can procreate once it reaches maturity to do so. Along with every other life form. Good thing everything in the universe created itself.
