Why do people always get upset about this and question the color of his skin and why people paint him as white. This started many hundreds of years ago before any of us were born. So there is no way that any people that are currently living on this planet no matter what race you had anything at all to do with starting a myth about it about what he looked like.
Isn't it obvious no one really knows what he looked like. And the artists in those eras just painted him as if he was from their own culture, dah.

A fella commissions an artist to portray him in oil with a "christ-like" visage. Next thing you know, other artists are using that picture as a basis for their own works.
1100 C.E. - 1800 C.E. Everybody wanted to show how righteous they were by having portraits of Jesus. After DaVinci, David, and Delacroix popularized the look, it stuck.

Jesus has appeared to some people, such as St. Faustina and St. Mary Margaret. In the case of St. Faustina, he commissioned her to have an artist paint what she remembered of seeing him. This picture is the picture of the Divine Mercy.

because people want him to look like them. Or at least a tall fair skinned and haired northern European guy rather than the most likely short darker skinned Jewish guy that he was. Easier for people to relate to him if he is of the "superior" race.

People do that because that's what they think he looks like. God could be a woman. There are many visions of God but there is only one.
