I just want these people to hear how it sounds to someone who tries to be open minded. unfortunately, shoving a faith-based belief system down my throat just ruffles my feathers.

I have rarely read Christian questions or responses on this site that have any kind of heart or brain. Take note that there have been a few to whom I was compelled to send an e-mail thanking them for their thoughtful answers, But for the most part the implication is an overwhelming sense of superiority based on rhetoric and dogma.

If this is baiting, then take the bait and show me I am wrong,

Not at all. All questions and discussion are valid. Bating is simply a tool to use to enter into a conversation. Why is that wrong? This method of ice breakers is extremely common and valid in most social circles.
Christ is a fascinating figure to discuss, debate, and think about in any conversational setting.
So have at it! It fun.

What you do in your own time is up to you. Very few past-times are "valid" as such.

Yoli has a strong point about the Bible crowd though - they often claim to be interested in "discussion", but that almost always means them telling you how you are wrong (and "proving" it with scripture(!)), and ignoring anything you have to say on the matter.

Apparently there are some Christian on the board who think I am doing it. But I AM Christian. My believes are just different! They claim they want to 'discuss' the Bible with me, but when it comes to my opinion, they no longer want to talk... hmmm.

In all seriousness, my boyfriend does do that if people challenge his views (or me, he's protective, awww). I have to kick or elbow him a lot.

I think it's a rather childish pastime.
But you are right, people take themselves way too seriously.
There were a couple of forgotten beatitudes, let's see if I can remember them:
Blessed are the flexible, for they shall never be bent out of shape.
Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall ever be smiling.

Cool. Instead of a healthy debate, atheists modus operandi is Christian baiting. Thanks for giving us a new perspective on the way you operate.

what is christian baiting? sharing your faith. If that is the case, that is something Jesus commanded. It's not a past-time.

Way too much time on your hands. What happened to the generic "golden rule"? God bless!

Persecuting Christians is a duty for all non-Christians.

The only way they know they are "real Christians" is if they are being persecuted.
