Have the problem checked out. Then you can reset your computer by unplugging it from the power source, your batter.

Get the transmission fixed....
sometimes check the code on computer...the engine might still see it as a problem or they didn't fix the transmission correctly. Take it to another mechanic and see if he agrees with the initial inspection of the transmission being OK.
Transmissions are hard to replace/and very expensive if left unattended.
That's funny - cause my daughter just asked about why the oil light was on in her car and how did she get that light to turn off.

if your lease is up and you trade it in, they will take money off if there is something wrong with it and you have not had it fixed.

If the light is on, it could be a sensor malfunction or something wrong that is not causing it to work improperly, but setting off the light.

Disconnecting the battery might set off other codes and have the CEL (Check engine Light) come on. This will go away after a certain number of key cycles (when the key is pput in the ignition and turned to 'on').

You can unplug your battery and see if that works. If iut does not you need to go and get the code cleared from the computer. If you dont want to pay the dealer you can get what is called a vag-com that will scan the computer for codes as well. They can be bought off of vwvortex.com in the forums or search e-bay or google it.

YOU NEED TO KNOW WHAT CODE IN THE COMPUTER HAS CAUSED THE LIGHT TO COME ON.IT COULD BE AS SIMPLE AS RESETING THE COMPUTER TO CLEAR THE CODE.AT LEASE TURN IN TIME,THE LEASE COMPANY WILL INSPECT THE CAR FOR DAMAGE,ECT.A TRANSMISSON LIGHT IS MORE THAN NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR,YOU NEED TO GET IT OUT BEFORE THAT INSPECTION.YOU CAN UNHOOK THE BATTERY FOR 30 MIN.,AND SEE IF IT WILL RESET.NEXT YOU WILL HAVE TO GET IT DIAG.SOMEWHERE.vwjcook@yahoo.com
