The cynicism is found in the answers to Bono's question about how to end poverty.

We can pray and put a cap on income of $100,000.00 annually and make it possible for all people to make a livable income to be self sufficient and take care all of their basic needs. All the excess funds over $100,000.00 would be distributed to those who need medical and financial assistance.

I don't think people are cynical about poverty. Almost everyone here pays taxes on their paychecks. Part of that state & federal tax goes to social programs.

I see the biggest obstacle to poverty in the US being culture: some people are just raised to believe finanical security or education don't matter. Even worse some even look down on the more successful members of their communities. Our movies & music also perpetuate the myth that we should never be proud of success & it's far better to be poor and fit in.

Internationally the US does contribute towards effort to end world poverty, both on a government and private level. The problem is that simply sending them cash or food doesn't solve the roots at a nation's poverty: zero education, no health care, severe government corruption or instability, no incentives to create jobs, etc. Like the old saying: if you give a man a fish, he eats for a day; if you teach him to fish, he eats for a lifetime.

I will answer this question with a question:

How do you end greed?

Greed for money.

Greed for power.

Greed for control.

Greed for fame.

And the list goes on and on. We have engineered a puzzle, no, a system that is landlocked, and there is no room for maneuver, a competitive system where in order to have big winners we must have big losers.

The wealthy people of the world, are supported by those well to do, who are in turn supported by those who are surviving who are in turn supported (sometimes unbeknownst to them) by those who are starving to death.

It's a closed system we live in, even at this global level, and no one really wants to sit down and understand how every one of their actions affects the rest of the world.

Chaos theory Mr. Bono. Wings of the butterfly. Not one butterfly. Millions, billions of them, stacked in a huge pyramid scheme.

Or in more plain English:

What, me save gasoline, and help ease geopolitical tensions that cause people to kill one another the world over?

What, me not buy a product made in China, or some other place where human rights are not respected? Sure, let's only bash Wal-Mart for selling $2 no name flip-flops made in China, but how about companies like Nike or Motorola that have sweat shops all over the world?

Everyone is doing it, and we are all supporting this situation.

After all, if the other guy is doing it, why not me, after all we live in a "watch out for NUMBER ONE world".

We support farm subsidies so we can keep our lower class relatively well fed so the machine can keep moving and as a result we make farmers in poverty stricken countries around the world non-competitive. We have destroyed farmers and land around the world with our farm subsidies and we (as in the US) are not alone.

The list of examples could go on ad nauseam.

Greed Mr. Bono. Show me how to stop greed Mr. Bono and I will show you how to stop poverty.

Otherwise, all we are doing is giving some pittance to the poor of the world to silence our conscience.

Kind Regards,

Joseph

Motivate people to end poverty where?

The best way to motivate people is to instill self respect, independence, and self reliance in them, then educate them-I don't mean touchy feely tree hugger BS, I mean educate them in reading, writing, math, history, and skills that can be used to earn a decent living.

Education is the key to ending poverty.

I'm to realize that the way to Heaven now is by me stop being in charge of my temporary life to allow the beautiful Creator God of the everlasting implement his perfect design unconditionally. This is the Way of Jesus (Yeshua).

When Nature's Almighty (not religion) truly changes my life, I automatically become an agent of goodwill to the core. Others will follow when they see how well Jesus' Way works and will start benefiting the poor as God enables them. It will be a more permanent effect than throwing grains at them without showing them how to figure out their next day.

Challenge churches that if they truly share God's heart, to then stop going silent on men's violence against women in Africa and everywhere. Challenge churches that if they understand love, to teach men how to behave with the love from their Creator. Challenge churches that if they understand Jesus' Way, to stop being afraid of the concequences of being more influential.

Stop relying on human invented religious ideas. Only one Master will prevail. Jesus (Yeshua) is the love expressed for all by the Creator of all. Study the Gospels of Mark, John or others in the Bible. God's eager to reveal Himself to you directly.

May God's dominion be established through me and you.
