That's like asking why do women wear pants or shorts that's are to small for them..you know when they have that skin hanging over the top of their pants... Just refusing to accept they are getting older and bigger as they get older..or what about those guys who wear the pants or shorts that are down around their butt bottom.. just silly they are ALL just silly

Older guys wear clothes that were in style when they were growing up. Just like your generation will continue wearing clothes past their time that will mortify your children. For example, wearing "shorts" that hang down past your knees and are as baggy as a garbage bag will undoubtedly be seen as idiotic. Those aren't shorts. And should I assume that you think wearing your pants halfway down your a.s.s with your underwear hanging out is "cool" too? Because that one is already on the way out and will soon be seen as the most stupid "fashion" trend ever invented. But what do you expect from a trend that is based on prison clothing?

That is usually not the case, most older men wear shorts that are too big.

They want to feel young again, and back in their young ages everyone wore short shorts so for them wearing tight short shorts is a sign of hip.

Because in their mind, they fit. Example, "See, I still wear the same size I did when I was in high school." Never mind that the shorts/jeans/pants now cross mid-torso rather than around the waist.

I think as a rule when men age, we forget we are getting older. We all still want to be the young him due. Men also as a rule have a bad eye for fashion.

Trying to outgrow them, shorts last a long time, and to chuck them before they are worn out seems wasteful, besides they are just shorts, not formal, and if nothing is hanging out the bottom, who cares

Maybe because social security doesn't pay enough to go buy new ones. Or maybe because they just want to. Or maybe its their protest to all these young punks with their shorts hanging 3/4th of the way off their butts.
