I have a 2 year old cat who after all this time of being house trained has started peeing in the house again. It's as if he is marking his territory. I live in the country far waway from anyone, and he never had a problem with cat competition before, but recently I have heard him fighting at night.
Does anyone have any idea on how I can stop him peeing? I don't like having him in the house anymore.

Get him neutered. It would stop the fighting & the spraying. What he's doing is marking him territory. Clean up all the spots where e has peed before really, really well so that he can't smell it so he won't pee there agin.

You can give your cat all the attention it could possible have, ignore your other ones and they will keep peeing in your house, even in your shoes! There is nothing physically wrong with him (already checked). He's nasty to most people and my vet won't put him to sleep. They want me to bring him in for psychological counseling and I cannot AFFORT IT AND I MEAN IT! $16,000 income for family of four. You cannot bring him to the humane society, they have made it very clear that they cannot adopt a cat like this out. You don't want them lying to prospective owners. You could put the cat in danger of being beaten or thrown out! I don't know home much more I can take. What am I suppose to do?

neutering or spaying your cat, will not mean that they will stop spraying!!!!! you could try catching the cat in the act, and then tell it off with a stern voice! They do learn to stop.... but if you just tell them off after the event, they will not understand what you are telling them off for. Cats will mark for territory, safety, and rivalry. It could be that you have moved things around lately and it is just remarking, maybe you have had someone around lately that the cat doesn't like very much?? They will spray to remove that person's scent. They will also spray more frequently when they are nervous or frightened of something, your cat might be being bullied by another cat, outside of the house... Or perhaps, it's just a simple case of your litter tray needs emptying more frequently. Cats are super clean, and hate uncleanliness, maybe he/she is trying to tell you something. I always find that cats will spray more in the summer months too! Hope this helps!

Oh my, thats bad. I have gone through the same thing in my house. It is almost impossible to get rid of the smell.
They (pet stores and vets) sell a product that you spray directly on the spot. You have to do this repeataly for days. After cleaning, just keep spraying the spot. To get the cat to stop there a few things to check out. first is the cat fixed? This helps some. Next, make sure he/she isn't ill, have you moved the furniture? some cats are funny that way. We had one that would always pee on my husbands chair, to show the world that he belonged to her. Good luck.

Cats that start urinating inappropriately 9 out of 10 times have some sort of urinary tract infection. They start to urinate in our houses as a warning mechanism, to let their owner know their is a problem. You should have your cat checked in the next 2 days, If it is a male cat they can become "blocked" and unable to urinate on their own. This can become a very serious and potentially life threatening.

If their is no sign on a urinary tract infection, it could be behavioral and require re litter box training. Lock the cat in a confined area with the litter box, it will start going in the box again. A bathroom or crate is best, easy to clean.

Have you had him neutered......I dont think so!!! Thats why he is peeing, and fighting, and going out at night. Get him to the vet, and he will stop territory marking and being male. Dont shut the poor animal out; he has no idea that he is doing wrong- all he understands is that somebody he trusted and loved has turned against him.

Take him to the vet! My 2 year old cat started doing that and I took her to the vet. She has crystals in her urine that are painful. If left untreated it will kill her. A cat that just starts peeing in the house usually has a medical problem. Cats are clean animals they don't like to pee just anywhere! The disease is also called flutd. My cat has to have antibiotics twice a day along with pain medicine.

He could have a bladdrr infection or bladder stones. Cats are clean animals, they do that when they have a problem urinating, it's typical. This could cause blockage which is deadly and very fast. Take a sample of urine and have it analysed. Put a small sterile cap under his tail when he urinates and have it tested for blood, crystals, bacteria. If you can't the vet can test him. This can be treated with special diet and/or medication.

He is telling you something. Have you changed litter? Hours that you are home? Get another pet? The pet shops sell a spray call pet no. It works wonders. But by yelling at the cat or punishing him will only make him more likely to keep doing it.

I have had this problem and it turned out he had an infection, so get him to the vets and have him checked over, If he aint already had his little plums removed that may be an idea also make sure that you clean any areas he has soiled really well so he does not try to use the same spot again
