Does any other guys have an engagement ring that he wears? My fiance decided it was totally unfair that I got to sport a symbol of our committment and all he got was words. He said it was sexist that girls get pretty things and guys don't. So after talking to me about and making sure I wasn't offended by the notion (which I'm not, it makes sense to me) he bought himself a narrow plain silver band that he wears on his left ring finger. It doesn't have any embellishments and is rather narrow for a guys ring (not feminine, just not the flat thick bands you normally see) Mine has a diamond and engraved crosses. He intends to wear his in conjunction with is wedding band just like me.

While I totally dig the idea of my fiance getting an engagement ring instead of just me, I'm curious to see what other people think? Does it make sense to you too? Do you think that girls being the only ones to get the physical symbol is sexist?

Hang on tight to that guy. I think it is one of the most sweetest thing that a man could do. That ring shows he is proud that is off the meat wagon, that he is in love with someone that he wants to spend his whole life with. My son-in-law wore an engagement ring till they married, now he only wears his wedding ring. I think it's wonderful, and I wish you both the very best. Feel loved because you surely are!

I just got engaged and at first I felt the same way. Then I saw an episode of Boy Meets World where he is wearing an engagement ring and gets a hard time from all of his friends.

I think that's awesome. My husband also muses that guys get the short end of the pretty stick when it comes to weddings. One ring, one (in our case) rental tux, and a party. Girls get flowers, a dress they most likely keep, hair done, makeup, shoes, two rings, decorations, and a party. He like our wedding as much as any other guy, but he shares the same sentiment that weddings end up mildly sexist. Not neccesarily in a bad way, but guys get a little jipped if they are into that sort of thing.

I like that idea. My husband didn't want an engagement ring, but he did want me to buy him his wedding band. He surprised me with a beautiful ring with diamonds..so I did the same for him. He loved the fact that it wasn't a plain band and that it matched mine as well.

I think it's a good idea. I wouldn't say that women getting a ring just herself is sexist though. Maybe just traditional. It's great to see people break the norms.

That is personally up to the couple! My husband wore a true love waits ring and then our wedding nigh (we were both virgins) he gave me the ring saying that he gave himselve to me and to nobody else!

I think it is an awesome idea. If both of you feel this way then go for it!

I think its totally fine that your man wants to wear an engagement ring. Its his way of broadcasting that he's in love, and taken. I think its perfectly modern and sweet.
