Why the hell do people text message. Is it because they are afraid of actually talking to someone over the phone, or what?

It's kinda like email..you can keep in contact even though you're busy and you don't have to go through all the crap small talk...text messages are functional..and sometimes I text when I am too busy to talk or can't talk wihtout someone hearing what I am saying...so I text to get my message across. I prefer it because it's practical and some people hate to talk on the phone especially if you're a busy person who doesn't want to be on the phone all day

My BF and I text message sweet little notes to each other for fun. I don't always like to talk to someone and by sending them a text, I'm not stuck on the phone. If I need to get info to my ex-husband about our kids, I send a text just so I don't have to talk to him. You can also send a text and the contents are private, but when you talk, others around you can hear.

It's sometimes more convenient where you're in a situation where you cannot talk on the phone. Also, if you have the flu and cannot talk, it's an easier way of saying "I'm sick. Can't talk. Don't call.". Also if your partner is at work and you know they cannot talk on the phone, letting them know you are thinking of them by sending them a text until their break is a sweet way of telling them.

sometimes u dont feel like talking so u get send a text just to check on the person or something, i dont think its any big deal.
