No...not JUST because she was female.
But I know too many people that vote only because someone is (pick one) white, male, black, female, republican, democrat, none of the above.
Pity - these voters are the ignorant fools that elect the worst politicians and the rest of us have to suffer though the term.
Democracy works when we do.
We voters need to educate ourselves on the facts and select the most capably person for the job.
Not some nut who has a sparkling smile or a clever quote.
In the end, the voter gets what they deserve.

No, I would vote for her because she was QUALIFIED. If it was a close race between a male and a female who were equally qualified, I would lean toward the female because we've already had a lot of male presidents - just to see what she could do. Ther have been many great female leaders and spiritual teachers, but the US has never trusted its power and resources to a woman. There are still a lot of people that hold true to their opinion that men are better leaders than women - but we won't know until a woman leads us.

No and no. I would vote for the person whose ideology most closely resembles mine irrespective of gender. I lean toward being more politically conservative and, accordingly, I think Kay Bailey Hutchison would make a much better President than would Teddy Kennedy.
(I'm waiting for all the interesting answers from the male chauvinist pig rednecks and all the man hating feminists on this one; ought to make fun reading.)

Yes, I would vote for a female president because we have seen plenty of male presidents and seen what they are capable of doing and for once I would like to see a female president and see what she can do for the country!

Absolutely not. Like the others who have answered, I vote for people that share my opinions on the issues and who have a direction that I think works.
Gender has nothing to do with it. Neither does race or religious affiliation.

It would be great if a female became president, but i hope that people would look past the "making history" aspect and make sure that she is right for this country.

I would vote for who I thought was the best possible candidate. If that person happens to be a woman, then that's great. But I would not discriminate against either candidate based on their gender.

I would hope that people would vote for whoever best represented the United States and had the people of our country in their best interest. Whether they are black, white, male, female...all we need is a strong leader who listens and is thoughtful.
