Ring the garage that serviced your car. That happened to me once, and they sorted it out in seconds. Best to drive over if its not too far

If it is a factory stereo you can take it to the dealer and they can get you the correct code. Most dealers have to remove the radio to get a model number, later model cars the dealer can pull the code with a scanner but must contact the manufacturer to get the security code. If there is a charge for that you might have the shop that just fixed your car pay for it... They should have put a memory saver in when they disconnected the battery!

Hope this helps

First disconnect and the connect back the car's battery. Second find the code that goes with your sound system, it should be written on a card the dealer gave you when you bought the car. When you disconnect the power from your battery the anti theft system on your stereo is activated so the code it requires deactivates the anti theft. Find that code, because every stereo has 1.

It may be that your stereo has an anti theft device which if the stereo is disconnected from the battery you need to put a code in to unlock it. Suprising enough my code was on a sticker on the radio. If you slide it out it may be on there. Otherwise if you go to a car audio shop they can unlock it and give you the code. My friend had to do this and it cost her £15.

Your manual may have it recorded inside. Check this too.

The mechanic disconnected your battery (or power source for your radio) and the radio went into protection mode and locked up. You will need to:

a) If it is a factory radio, you will need to contact your local dealership's service department, and provide them with the VIN number of the vehicle (and possible the serial number of the radio) to obtain the proper unlock code and procedure for entering it.

b) If the radio is an aftermarket radio, check with the owner's manual for instructions on what the code is and how to enter it.

The stereo requires a security code. It should be in your owner's manual or the paperwork the dealer gave to you. If you can't find it, call that garage or check with a dealer for the radio code.

most factrory radios have a 4-digit preset code-you usually enter it pushing the 1-5 preset buttons on the radio if you don't have the manual for the car/radio try simple combinations like 1111 or 1234

You might have locked the stereo now...look in your manual that came with it for a "security code". If there isnt one, it's back to the garage I'm afraid and ask them to unlock it...sorry!

If it is the factory fit a dealer will be able to recode it from the Chassis Number - they can get it from the Factory records. You may have to produce proof of ownership before they will recode it
