People of today's generation have no fear of the hereafter. They would rather live their lives for themselves instead of for a greater goal. Religion and faith are not a part of many younger generations upbringing anymore - hence you have those questioning others beliefs and ridiculing them. I say let them feel and say what they want - if Jesus wants them you know he will get them, one way or another!

Seems to be a surprising lack of evidence of his existence. Even the earliest gospels found were written in Greek, a language that the apostles surely didn't know. I am currently trying to research this now.
Josephus, a Jewish scholar who lived just after the Crucifix on, was credited with making a few notes about Jesus. But these notations are highly suspect as forgeries. There seems to be no records, Jewish or Roman, to substantiate any aspect of Jesus's life. If he knocked over the tables in the temple and was constantly fighting the powers there, shouldn't there be some sort of notation? Jews have always considered record keeping very important. How about his arrest and crucifixion? Shouldn't there be some roman records to substantiate this? Something?
This is why there is doubt in the minds of some scholars

We live in an age of disillusionment - look at the state the world is in today. And the easy explanation is to say "If there was a God, why does He/She allow bad things to happen to good people?". As Pope Benedict has said, Human Beings are the cause of everything good and bad. We all have a choice to do good or evil, and most times, doing good takes an effort, and a lot of people don't think it's worth the effort if there's nothing in it for them.
Another reason is the lack of faith - why believe in something/someone that we can't see/hear/touch. I was raised a Catholic, and I believe in God, and Jesus, just because I believe, how else can one explain all the beauty/miracles in this world - if one has faith, one will see that not everything is bad or evil.
This is just my own humble opinion.

They have not yet open their eyes. Not their physical eyes but the eyes of their heart. I don't know what History Book they are reading, but when I went to school the History Book we read talked about Jesus. The History Book my children read talks about Jesus and the History Book I read today talks and tells about Jesus. This History Book is the oldest and dearest History Book there is, it is call the Holly Bible

This will be an argument until the end of the world... Science vs Christianity....
sure, modern science can explain away any religious beliefs it wants to... that's what it's designed to do...
it's up to each individual to adopt the beliefs they feel most strongly about. Many people who've commented on this question have stated that this generation is not as religious as past generations... people live as if they will never be judged for it...
i guess we'll all see... it's a matter of faith... and those who do not have it, will always try to find out ways to test those who do...
God bless you all!!!!

Quite frankly, all we really know is that there was this guy who claimed he was the son of God and died trying to prove that. Who really knows? Christianity is based entirely on faith, even most theologists claim that. So, maybe it is justified to believe that Jesus is make believe because although there may be some historical facts there is no: place of burial, proper accounts during his lifetime ( the bible was composed years after he died) and it's just harder to believe everything in the bible because the style of writing is more symbolic than literal. So, maybe all of Jesus' miracles were symbolic to represent deeper meanings. This is supported by the fact that Jesus liked to tell parables.

Even historians agree? You mean christian historians who already believe he was real and then go about trying to find proof of his existence? Do you know how science and critical thinking work? It's the exact opposite of that.

As far as I'm aware there are no verifiable contemporary accounts of his existence. To be sure, lots of people have written lots of stuff about a character called Jesus but always many years after he supposedly lived, and usually for political reasons - i.e. they put words into his mouth that they wanted people to believe, in order to control the population and maintain their positions of power, wealth and authority. How can we *not* doubt this kind of testimony?

I doubt anyone thinks Jesus never lived. I think they question whether or not his divinity was make-believe. Specifically, I think they are referring to his miracles and the questionable idea that he actually rose from the dead.
These are things that can never be definitively proven either way. Those who say they are made-up think that they are false. Those who say they are absolute fact are obviously on the other side of the argument. Either way, no one knows for sure, and that's why this fight will always continue.

Jesus is real; look around you. The world and the people in the world. If you look at creation, it is designed perfectly. That is enough to let you know that it had a creator. Even look at your body, inside and out the flowing of the blood through the body and etc. The Messiah is real.

You are right. Jesus did not begin to be scarce in the school books until after 1959. I remember open prayer and daily Bible reading in public school. I grew up in the south, we kept it longer than most parts of the country.
