My 6 month old lab/great pyranese cross has suddenly started having trouble peeing. Yesterday he was peeing fine but this morning he stands there and the pee if it comes out at all it just trickles out. He doesn't wine or cry when peeing but when he's done and in the house he wines to go back out and try again. Is there anything i can give him or try with him? Should i just wait a couple days? I dont have alot of money to take him to the vet (hes supposed to get neutered next week) but of course i would if needed because i dont want him to suffer in any way. Any advice would be great thanks so much!

You absolutely have to take him to the vet. It sounds like he could have a bladder infection - or stones. They will not neuter him or give him any surgery if he has an infection running through his blood anyway. Waiting is not going to help, but hinder. If it is an infection, he will only get worse without antibiotics. It's worth spending the money now while it's treatable. You don't want to wait until he gets worse and have to spend even more on more aggressive treatment. Good luck.

I feel for you about not having a lot of money for what will probably be a semi-big vet bill (have you ever seen a small vet bill)- but your doggie needs to see a vet ASAP. It sounds like he has a kidney infection and those are painful!!! And the longer the wait for treatment, the worse the infection gets. You might ask your vet to go ahead and neuter if possible to combine treatments but s/he probably won't be able to until the dog has gotten over all his illness. I hope he feels better soon!

It could be a variety of problems including the ones already mentioned and beyond. He could have crystals even. The best thing to do is make an appointment with your vet. Take in a urine sample if you can. To do that get a clean unused sandwich bag and catch the urine when the dog goes potty. Do this just prior to going to the vet office. If they need more they can get it there, but you can do basic tests for infection with what you bring in.

yep sounds like a urinary tract infection. My dog had one right before he was neutered after his neutering it went away directly. Not sure why? The vet said it might but gave me a script incase it didnt. I hope your pup is better so.. ohhh FYI when you do go to the vet take a urine specimen with you they'll need it to tell if your pup does infact have an infection... Good luck!

There are many reasons why a dog could have trouble urinating . He could have a Urinary Tract Infection or have an obstruction. Either way you need to take your dog to the vet. If you look you may be able to find a low cost pet clinic.

It sounds like a Urinary Tract infection...Its PAINFUL...The vet may not neuter him if he's got that going on, I'd take him on in...It shouldnt cost much...They'll give him antibiotics...If you dont he will wake you up every hour on the hour at night wanting to go out to try and pee...I have been there ..Done that!

Sounds like to me that you need to see about taking him to the vet. He may have an urinary tract infection or something like that dealing with his bladder or possibly his kidneys. Hope it is something that is not serious. Wish you luck.
