Be true to yourself. If you had to pick one or the other.
No fence straddlers need to answer. Do not feel as if you are less of a Christian, or less of an American, just answer truthfully.

Interesting answers...You see I am an avowed secularist, so I will always be an American first, because while faith is wonderful, and I respect religion and those who worship, to me, faith is an intangible concept; you can never lose it asa long as you believe...While America is REAL...It lives and breathes, there is no doubt that it exists, and we need to be aware that zealousness of any form, whether Islamic, Christian, Jewish, or whatever, can have ill effects on this REAL society....So keep this in mind when you worship...
Thanks again...

This is an interesting question. Most people are born into American citizenship and all Christians are born into Christianity. American citizenship and Christian citizenship are independent of where you live.
The only way to determine if you are an American first or a Christian first, is by the setting of priorities. Real Christians put Christ first in their lives, so Christian citizenship would be first for all Christians.

I am a Soul first. I was born in America but I only feel I am a child of this world not this country. While many Christian views interrupt my life I would never label myself as any religion. This question is really about "In which form do you choose to separate yourself from others"

OK. FIRST you say "Be true to yourself." Then you lay down a rule to keep me in place ... "No fence straddlers need to answer." That is, to keep me in YOUR place. Guess what? I AM TRUE TO MYSELF. However, YOU don't give me the space to do that with your question. So I'm going to be true to myself, and true to you in the process. And you can call it fence straddling if you want to ... But that's NOT what it is. (And THAT'S the truth.) American, or Christian first??? NEITHER. Before I am any thing else I am ME first. Past that I'm NATIVE American, and I'm not Christian 1st., 2nd., 3rd., or etc. I'm Red Road in so far as my spirituality is concerned. Don't try to force people into pigeon holes. They don't fit well, k? ~ Peace & Blessings ~

I am a Christian first. I believe that nationalism is the product of race spirits that instructed us long ago and that it should fade in the advent of universal brotherhood taught by Christ. America is a great step toward this because of the melting-pot aspect, but it is still only a nation even if a great one.

I am a Christian first. I have to put God first in my life because that is what he wants me to do. If I can do that I will be a much better citizen, but, being a christian in todays America is more like being an outcast. I will proudly be an outcast the rest of my life to stand up for my God.

That's a song my daughter learned in Bible Camp, spelling out the letters. I am a follower of Christ before anything. He created me for Himself.
