Everyone does, but most people don't know how. They grab at whatever religion is most popular or seems to be the "best", but they don't really know what to do.

I personally do believe in a god, but I think that too much time is spent on worrying about one's relationship with that god and with one's hope for a hereafter. If this god does watch us and is with us somehow, as I suppose you mean, then it probably wants us to spend our time trying to help others and doing something useful in the here and now rather than be thinking about the supernatural all the time.

We all need a closer relationship with the Lord. We should live our life close to Him, and put our Faith, and trust in Him. we should seek God for the will of our life. he is the one, who has given us everything we have.
