Isn't there a scripture that talks about God turning his back after Christ died? Maybe that's why society is so screwed up?
Maybe God turned his back and isn't going to look at us again until judgement day? Maybe he can't bare to watch?

I just don't see God's judgement like I hear about in the old testiment. And I don't see people getting
close to God like I hear about in the old testiment. What do you think?

You are a mother and a wife correct?
If God is considered "Father in heaven" use that as the example.
Would you turn your back on your Children?
In my opinion, I don't believe god has left us, I think that it is more the opposite, we left him. God gave us the power of free will and choice, that means that if we do something wrong then we are accountable for it. We decide our own consequences by making our own decisions.

About God turning his back on Christ, I guess you should ask yourself again, Why would my father turn his back on me? Would he? I think that in whole time from the passover feast to his Resurrection Christ had every opportunity to give up and decide to live his own life, but he didn't, he had a reason to do what he did and that was his fathers work. So whether God turned his back on his son, in those terms, I strongly disbelieve that, but no doubt Christ felt lonely. Wouldn't you if you were the only person that could save humanity from "Spiritual death"?

It's not a scripture reference I'm familiar with, so I can't help you there.

I think society is screwed up by the actions of humans. In God's loving mercy, we were all saved through Jesus' death on the cross. But we still have free will. God doesn't want us to be mindless drones, "loving" him because he makes us. How is that real love? He wishes us to come to him freely.

On the other hand, there are still plenty of people who reject his love, and all people are simply human- we all make mistakes. Society is the way it is through the evil of mankind.

I think God is still watching over us, probably sadly, but nonetheless he is there. There are few signs of God's judgement like there were in the Old Testament because Jesus' death and resurrection made for us a new covenant with God, the old ways are not the new ways. There are still plenty of people in this world with an incredibly close relationship with the Lord, it just takes a little searching.

God bless. :)

No, He only turned His back for a short time. That was when the sky darkened and the earthquakes occurred immediately after Christ's death.

True, there are not as many "signs and wonders", but we are told that these signs basically cheapen our faith. If it happened all the time, we would become lackadaisical to them eventually.

As far as getting closer to God, there are still alot of people like that in this world, it's just that more and more people are turning away from the true God for their own pleasures. This will continue till the end.

Something you should consider: The bible was set up as a set of stories and guidlines to live your life by. They say that the bible is the spoken word of God, but what would you think of someone who says that they speak to God? We call them "crazy," don't we? If they are crazy now, they were crazy then as well. I'm not saying the bible is fake or real, I'm just saying that what the bible says is not always fact. It is made up of a mixture of stories and truths. Sure, you'll get the respondants that say "The bible is the most factual book ever written," or "God's word is never wrong," but they cannot know for certain. It's impossible unless you are God Himself. No one knows until the day we die and are judged. It is up to us to determine how to live our lives.
But to answer your question when you ask if God turned his back on us...no...we as a skeptical society have turned OUR backs on Him. When we question His word and get further away from what He wanted for us, that is when our society gets screwed up.
If you are looking to get closer to God, beware...for there are those who are saying they can get you closer, but in reality they are doing quite the opposite. The anti-christ can come back in any form he so chooses, and for him to come back as a "pious individual" (a TV evangilist, a priest, etc...) would be a clever move. If you ask me, any preacher or priest that asks for any kind of money (other than the daily tithing) is wrong. You should not make money off of God's word. Good luck.

We do not really know for sure that Jesus died on the cross. This is just a story and a theory. There are other theories that say he lived and not just in a spiritual way. It is a matter of faith and what you believe. The Bible is just a book. A very good book but still just a book. Maybe our concept of God is much different than the concept of God 5,000 years ago.

You know if my child had to do something or even do something that was totally and extremely against all that I have taught, I suppose for instand I would look away from her, only because I would be more hurt than she. I could not bare to see her bring harm to herself. God did say things would change in how he would show himself. Because he knew we as a people would some day gain more and more insight and answers; that to Him are fairly simple questions and notions. But so long as we live here can never know everything. That's where belief, trust and faith come into play. Without hope we have nothing, but through love we gain so much. That's our how we manage our own salvation.

I can't think of the scripture that specifically states that Jehovah turned his back on the nation of Israel, but it's in the bible. However, I do know Jesus' parable at Matthew 22:1-14. He talks about how the first people invited to the marriage feast (Israel) were not worthy. This in part shows that they had God's favor at one point but lost it because of their actions. Acts 15:14 shows that God has an organization today that represents him from people of all the nations.

GOD speaks to his children in different ways. You have to give yourself to him, acknowledge that he is your savior and that you will worship him they way he wants you too. The problem with our society is that people dont like be told what to do. When you cast the shadow of doubt on your belief then you are turning youre back on GOD. You have to believe without doubt, that is when you will start to see how the things happening in the World today is true Testament to that Judgement Day is coming and very soon.

In the old testament God would send his judgement down on men to pay for their sins. Now after Jesus went to the cross, we have grace. Jesus is a propitiation for our sins. In other words, he is like our lawyer in Heaven arguing our case before God. God will send his judgement down at rapture. God has not turned his back on us, we have turned our back on him. If you do not ask for his help, you will not get it. We don't want to talk to God unless it it convenient for us and we have problems. We should praise him every now and then. Please don't think God has left you. He is standing there in the shadows waiting for you to reach out to him.

I don't know if you are talking about when Jesus was on the cross and said "my God My God why have you forsaken me?' I believe that was because Jesus had at that moment taken on the sins of the world and when you sin you are removed from God's presents. Which is the whole reason for Jesus dying to wash our sins in his blood.
