I suffer from arthritis and have been taking Dicloflex for a while, but the affects they are having on my tummy have become unbearable. I have always had a low tolerance for aisprin & paracetamol based products and basically Im just wondering if there is anything that wont upset my tummy but will help with the pain? My doctor is very unsympathetic with the problem.

Thank you all, I have tried cannabis in the past and it helped but it isnt the kind of treatment I can use on a reguar basis, I have 3 young children so therefore thats not an option. I have a tens machine and that helps in the short term, some useful answers and links though so thanks again :-)

As prescription drug options diminish, arthritis sufferers are scrambling for relief. Experts recommend these eat-right tips to ease the ache:

Vitamin C
A 10-year Boston University study of 149 people with knee osteoarthritis (OA) found that getting less than 150 mg of vitamin C per day tripled the rate of cartilage breakdown. High-C foods include sweet peppers, peaches, and strawberries.

Omega-3s
Several clinical trials found that eating 3 g of fish fats a day relieved the joint pain, swelling, and morning stiffness of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and reduced the need for drugs. Fish oil seems to cut the inflammation that causes RA symptoms.

Weight Loss
New Wake Forest University research found that reduced production of the hormone leptin--generated by fat tissue--may be the reason weight loss alleviates OA pain. In the 18-month study, 316 overweight and obese people with knee OA lost 3 to 6% of their body weight; falling leptin levels closely corresponded to diminishing pain and disability symptoms.
hope it helps
best of luck!

A tens machine is a very good way to combat pain it's a handheld machine with pads that you place on the areas of pain, it sends impulses to the body's painkilling cells to help them combat the pain. It has a reputation of being very effective for migraines and arthritic/rheumatic pain. Once you have the machine (they can be bought from large chemists like Boots or hired from the N.H.S the only things you need to buy for it would be batteries)
If your doctor isn't sympathetic then consider changing, ask family & friends for recommendations and change to a doctor thatactively cares and does his best for his patients

Find another Dr for your arthritis. I have RA and also tried to go the natural route with little success. If there is a Chinese herbalist in your locality you can try them out. I found a medical group that cares for arthritis and bone disorders in my area to fix me up. Good Luck

So sorry for your pain. Over-the-counter topical creams containing Capsaisan can often help. Capsaicin is the chemical compound in hot peppers that makes them hot. It generates heat that is deep penetrating and may bring you temporary relief. It's harmless and certainly worth a try.

Try COX2 inhibitors - like etoricoxib - see if they are not banned in your country - along with a Ranitidine.

I take just one every week without the ranitidine - and it works like magic.

Though this is not a natural drug.

I would try to find another doctor that was more interested in helping you. Maybe a specialist in arthritis or in treating pain. If your doctor won't refer you to a specialist, try going online to find someone in your area.

many people say cannibis is a proven (unorthadox) way of pain relief.
