No, good scores in exams is the only way to find out how good you are at filling in bubbles, reading and doing basic math or science. Exams don't test other important skills people might have. For example, they don't test communication skills, presentation skills, the ability to make valuable observations and judgments based on those observations, problem solving skills, art, music, drama skills, common sense, knowledge of the "streets", persistence, ambition, etc. Even good reading skills aren't tested in these exams! This is why teachers all over the US can't stand the new testing system brought on by Mr. Bush. No Child Left Behind is really all about testing children when all these tests are not valuable to anyone...especially when we don't even know their scores until one YEAR LATER.
However one might look at these tests, it should be accepted that they are here (people are working to get rid of them), at least for now, and that in order to seem more intelligent one should attempt to score well. Good test taking skills are important. So here's some tips:
Eat a good breakfast before the test. Sleep a good eight hours the night before the test. Try to chew gum or crackers or have some silly puddy while during the test....research has shown that doing these stimulates your brain. Don't have sugary snacks during the test rather have some carrots, crackers, granola bars, etc. Don't cram...study at least one hour a day so that you don't have to cram before a big test. If you don't know a question skip it and come back to it later. Read questions carefully and if you can highlight. People always get stumped by tricky questions and if you can highlight key words within those questions it narrows down what you're reading...in other words you're not taking in stuff you don't need. Read your test carefully...sometimes you'll find answers to other questions within your test!
So, while exams are not good indicators of intelligence...its what people have been using for a long time and it takes a while to get people to drop a bad habit. I'll just give you this piece of information:
Using the exams and their test of intelligence....most millionaires are not incredibly "intelligent". In other words, most millionaires do not have either high school, college diplomas or masters' degrees. They have made their money by going into business for themselves, being persistent, dedicated and well spoken. They surround themselves with advisors, who are "intelligent" and well educated but have less money and who are less successful.

No, not really. There are lots of different kinds of intelligence. There are lots of different tools for measuring an individuals level of intelligence in a particular area. Although some people can score really high on a test, they may have no common sense. If you have no common sense, it doesn't really matter how many facts you can memorize.
