I have visited these coutries and seen it all. buddhist monks openly declare that eating meat is a sin and they never eat meat. In sri lanka during vesak (buddhas birthday) a cow was saved from the slaughter house only to be captured by buddhist monks who secretly killed it and transported the meat in to the temple through the back door.
Why so much hypocracy among religious people?

And how did or where from you got the information that the cow was slaughtered and taken into the temple through the back door? Without verifying your sources, don't cast aspirations on others.

You have created what's known as a Straw Man Fallacy. You have made the assumption that all Buddhists believe the same thing and all think the same way. Are you aware of the 3 main branches of Buddhism? I would guess not.

In addition, you have structured your question from a western point of view, using the term "sin". Let me guess...you also think Buddha is "like their God or something". Have you even been to Asia? If you did I'll bet you were a christian missionary, in other words, clueless.

NOT all buddhist monks preach not to eat flesh of other animals. Because back in Buddhas day also there disciples who had eaten meat. There is a section in Tripitaka called Vinaya Hypocrisy is defined there but no restrictions posed for accepting them as Pindapatha. Please beware & refrain from making ridiculous comments.

It is not the fault of religion.

Christianity says "Love thy Neighbour". U have the crusades

Islam means "Peace". You have Jihad.

Hindusim says "Everyone is same before God". There exists numerous divisions based on Castes.

Buddhism preaches "Non Violence". There are wars in Buddhist Countries.

Hypocracy is everywhere.
