Erm...not to get pedantic here people, but this whole "you don't believe in him, so god wouldn't speak to you" business is a bit rich, isn't it? I mean by all accounts, Saul wasn't your ideal holy man either, but somewhere ahead of Damascus, he just FREAKED out totally when he heard the voice of god. So I'm thinking the Heavenly Dude ain't so particular about who he talks to. So I think the question stands - why is it impossible that a modern atheist should hear the voice of god, simply because they don't believe in the god that's talking to them - Nobody ever said being a prophet was easy, or fun, or only for the righteous...well ok, they probably said it was only for the righteous, but that's human folly for you. Any god that exists ain't gonna be stupid - it'll use whatever mouth it can get. So the burden is actually on you guys to empirically prove that this happened in the case of Jesus, Mohammed, Isaiah, Elijah et al, but not to our atheist friend.
And perhaps more interesting...just PLAY with the concept a second. If God spoke to you - to everyone, live on international TV, to say "You all got it wrong - you misinterpreted the books, got hung up on the detail, did I not make it clear enough about the "love they neighbour" thing?" - What would happen then?

God never spoke to a human being directly..Even when Abraham wanted to see God in Sinai, God revealed itself to a mountain and it just cracked..So Abraham got the message and the proof that God exists.
God talked us through messangers and God talks to messangers either behind a barrier or through an angle or by inspiration.
Devil can not imitate God, Angle or a Prophet so there is no control of devil on the message.
You address God through praying and it is God only will to answer or deny.
Muhammed is the last prophet and Quran and His own practice of Islam are what God informed us to be the constitution and the law and technically speaking all answers are in Islam.
Can you try to ask one and I would be glad to answer.

If you are an Aethist then God in theory shouldn't be able to speak to you, seeing as you don't believe in him.
Based on the logic of an aethist, if God doesn't exist and you keep hearing voices then chances are you are mentally unstable instead of speaking to God...my advice...go see a doctor :)

Let's see. Jesus is God, you are not. Guess you could be like Mohammed, but I don't believe his words either.

Gods still talks to people today. You have to be a true believer, and love him more than anyone.

If it is God the creator your talking about then.......
Your wrong God speaks to us today but you are death to His words , love and guidance, you have made the choice not to know Him.
God will not force you, He waits patiently for you. He is always there.

Give it a few hundred years. Non-mainstream religions are springing up devoted to Elvis Presley and Elian Gonzalez. You might just be a winner!
