Hello,
Actually, it's the United Kingdom currency that is the strongest. Which is GB Sterling. Learning another Language open so many doors for English speaking countries, which could be for businesses purposes and also personal purposes as well. Or a bit of both....
For the record i speak more than eight Languages, but i don't go around saying i speak this and that....
Take care

To start with, English IS NOT the official language of the US. The US don't have an official language - no matter what other say - it is part of the US Constitution. Sadly, few actually read it.
And, yes, there are multiple countries with more than one official language: to start with, Switzerland has 4 (italian, french, german and romantsch), and all kids learn in school a second from the 3rd grade on, and a 3rd language from the 6th grade. most people are at least bilingual, 3 languages are common.
Italy has special status region, with bilingual schooling: either Italian and French, or Italian and German.
Other european countries drives languages through historical and geographical reasons: aka, in UK, French is the most commonly learnt language. In the ex eastern block, many countries were teaching German and Russian - today English is a runner-up....
MOst of Asian countries have at least 2 official languages, one being English, the other being one or more local ones. I know South Africa recognize 11 black dialects (in fact, full languages), plus English and Afrikaans...
and so on...

the reason that other countries speak more than one language is not to gain knowledge it is to do business in the world market. Most countries will learn to speak English because we are a world power, and the dollar is very strong.

well, well.
Im Russian and I was suppose to speak only one language.
But I lived in the USA and can speak English fluently. And what is more I learnt German in the University and now I can speak it very well. By the way my bf is Tunisian and I have learnt how to write and read in Arabic. And as I work in a French company, I have started to learn French (now I can read, write and tell about myself).
And all that was not just for business but for myself. I like languages.

There is something to be said for being multi-lingual, but I don't know of any countries that have more than one national language. The officaial language of the USA is English. If you can't speak English, you don't belong here.
