Lots of people say its ok to believe whatever you want, as long as it makes you happy, or works for you."Whatever is true for you, is true for you" However there is one basic flaw with this way of thinking...all religons cannot be true..it defies logic..Only one must be true as they often contradict and do not work together or support each other in any way.

What seems Logical to one may look illogical to another.

Ones idea of what is logical is defined by their personal belief system. It is not a static thing that is universal to everyone.

It only seems that way to you because you have not thought it through completely. You seem to be a smart person. Let go of your preconceptions for a while and try to look at the idea of logic from as many angles as you can.

Look at the idea of killing someone. This is about as illogical as it gets. Yet when young men are put into war they are told that someone they don’t even know is their enemy and they need to kill them, and they do it. You can still argue that it’s an illogical thing to do but when the bullets start to fly it appears as the only logical alternative.

The idea that only one religion can be right is in its self an illogical statement. God apparently loves diversity. Look at the world around you, this is beyond obvious. Culture and language are so diverse because this diversity pleased God. Why is it that you believe that the love of diversity god obviously has stops dead at religion? Why Are the prayers of a devout and loving Hindu for the wellbeing of those he loves less pleasing than the hastily mumbled prayers of a Christian who is only saying them because he is afraid of the hellfire he has been taught to believe in. This idea my friend defies logic.

The idea that only one religion can be right is made up foolishness we have been lead to believe. The idea has its basis in judgment. Jesus cautioned us against judgment but we judge all religions as being less than our own. This is not the loving thing to do. Jesus asks us to love our neighbor. This is judging our neighbor, not loving them. If we claim to be followers of Jesus we are expected to follow his ideas. Not to ignore them and do the exact opposite. Think on these things. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts and help you find the truth. Be open to this truth and be aware that it may not sound like the lies you have been told about what God wants .

Love and blessings.

Your brother don

I can only come to the conclusion that people just want to believe what ever they believe, and they do not really wory if it is right or not, that is why, they want their free will and as they say each to his own, well I suppose that is their choice, then maybe they shouldn't be surprised at this scripture that says that Jesus will bring vengence on those that do not know God
or obey him, that, to some, may seem harsh on the part of God but when people don't care what is right or wrong in the eyes of God and rather do acording to their own ideas and/or beliefs, then wouldn't that really mean that they did not care to know God, and they do not know him for that reason. But I do aree with you there is a flaw in that type of thinking because it gives a false sense of security and stops one from learning the truth and as you said, you cannot have many truths that conflict with each other, there can only be right and wrong just like there are 2 sides either we are with God or we are against him and yes we do have free will to chose which we will go to.and logicaly some have said that maybe there is none that are true, which view is not surprising since there is so much bickering about who's right and who's wrong, but in the end it is everyone's own responsibility to find the real truth through the Bible That God provided for us to do that with!

Your logic defies logic. How can it be that only one religion is the true religion when all religions contain bits and pieces of others. Christianity, which I'm sure you are expounding, is the new kid on the block. It's roots are based in Jewry and Greek philosophy. Syria was the refuge of several schools of thought. Buddhist philosophy is rooted in Hinduism. How can anybody claim to be the one true religion at this point in time when the Earth, where we all habitate, is full of hate, greed and misery and is on the verge of destruction mostly due to warring factions of the One True Religion.

I disagree; I think many religions of the world have much in common ...
for example
- One God, many follow with
- one prophet to share the message of that one God.
- a place ones soul is taken after death
- peace, charity, hope, positivity, love, growth, society

My personal belief is that...
it matters not the person's faith...what matters is...that they believe in something.
Belief governs values, intrinsic motivations, will, hope and they way in which we treat our fellow person...

That that belief may conflict with your own, doesn't mean the person is wrong...the conflict is with you.

There is no one supreme religion...one supreme faith and all others are false...
that's exactly why Muslims are killing each other - against the directives of their own principles.
That to me, defies logic

Many religions work well together acroos cultures...check out the Mauritius Islands...

You are talking about a persons personal belief system...
you can't dictate what's logical or not...it's personal and subjective and therefore exempt from your logic argument.

Worst of all - because it's sad - you are imposing your "logic" against someones personal beliefs
...it sets you apart as antagonistic and depending on how you respond...anti-social.

Selfish and loving their own opinions, it's impossible for many humans to accept the possibility that they might be wrong. Most will believe whatever supports the way they want to live. If no religion supports them, they'll put down all religion or twist one to fit. If Noah's religion was universal, as a result of the Great Flood, diverse religions are the result of God allowing humans the free will to either worship him or not. Of course, they have to live . . . or die . . . with the consequences of their choices. Still, if God respects their free will, who among us can not? Humility and discussion are the keys.

Logic would state that only one could be true. There is an "Absolute Truth" in the universe. No one person has it at present, despite what they would have you believe. To the accept "what is true for you" line, is to indicate that you have no interest in exploration and growth, and you have a desire to be your own god, and center of the universe. Billions of little individual gods trying to exercise power over as much of the universe as they can, is the root of much of the worlds problems.

Who is right? Who is wrong? As long as a person believes in a benevolent deity, should it matter? People everyday fight in the name of religion and yet only use what they want from their holy scriptures to suit their needs and justify their actions.

At the very core of all religions they tell you the same thing, respect your parents, love your wife and no other etc. if we were more tolerant of each other and our different beleifs we wouldn't have so much death and violence in this world.

I am assuming that your religion is the only true one. Nobody knows so how can we or why would we stop them from believing. I say to each his own. And I believe most religions, although different in worship and ceremony are all have the same core beliefs.

People have two choices, they can believe whatever they want, or they can believe what someone else tells them to believe.

I prefer to make up my own mind.

Atheism, the only logical choice.

You are correct about there being only one "true" religion; it is atheism, or "none of the above."

There is an apparent defiance of logic when you look at many different religions to compare because they all are trying to put into words about something which is beyond words to describe, or define.
Yes only one is true, and the attempt to describe it in words creates the distortion, and the resultant defiance of logic.
Why is it so difficult to describe in words? ... It is because what is being attempted to be told is about an experience which transcends the perception level of sense organs. Even in day to day life, when somebody is overwhelmed, he says "I cannot put into words the joy/sorrow that I am experiencing" And yet, if he at all attempts, he himself would agree having failed in verbalising.
