ell Purple Rain, for me its a toss up. I grew up on Chevys and Im talking about when cars were cars. We had the rally sport, the biscane, the belair, the nova, the impala, the maibu, the corvette, montecarlo and of course the silverado. These my family drove and we did some wheeling and dealing. the automatic is my choice now adays but back then it was 4 on the floor or 3 on the tree( steering collum). You could feel the action a whole lot more with a standard shift. You still can but now adays I referr an automatic. Ammo ps let me not forget the chevelle ss 396. It was nasty!

Automatic for a car and manual for a motorcycyle.

The only way to go.

I do like them both...Automatic is very easy, just push and go...Manual on the other hand gives you more control over acceleration and if you need to slow down quickly you can simply do that by shifting down the gears....if you are a car enthusiastic then it is more fun to drive manual

This is a good question that I always think about.

First auto trans get a little less miles per gal of gas and requires that it be service about every 20,000 miles, (change transmission oil / replace or clean filter). This can cost from $50 to $150 depending on where you take it and how good a job you want done.

Manual trans get a little better mileage per gal of gas and don't have to have it service it every / about 20,000 miles. However, the clutch will need to be replace someday which is very expensive and will probably be equal to the the cost of servicing an auto transmission and also eat up any savings in gasoline costs.

In cars I go for auto trans,
In small pick up trucks I go for manual,
In a large pick up truck used for pulling a trailer, i go for auto.

If not sure go for the auto trans.

Drive a manual, if everyone drove sticks they would be much more focused while driving and talk on the phone less, or atleast use a hands-free.

I wish I could go back to stick. I liked it better and they do better mileage. With gas at $3.00/gal every little bit helps.

My husband has problems with his legs, that's why we have to have automatic.

But if you get a stick, remember not to stop on hill as they iwill roll. Where I live, we have a red light right at the top of the hill. Even with automatic I still won't go that route if I am driving... I go the long way around to avoid it.

Automatic - electric cars are the best to drive, smooth, quiet, powerful, smellfree, and because electric motors have torque characteristics most suited to motive traction, eg max torque at 0 revs, they don't need a complicated gearbox, ie they are naturally "automatic".
Hence the tZero easily outaccelerates a ferrari.

the infernal combustion engine rarely performs at best efficiency in normal road conditions, hence the need for gears.

I love driving manual transmission! But it is not fun in a traffic jam, so I would not recommend if you commute during rush hour. Otherwise, I find it easier to control during bad weather, better handling and just plain fun fun fun.

Manual is so much more fun. You can really feel the car and respond better to the signals it gives you.

Besides, it encourages fuel-efficient driving habits (coasting, moderate acceleration).
