We recently got some property out in the property and discovered a dead horse we didnt notice. it has been there for about 4 weeks and the heat has caused it to stink a bloat out. My son and his friend have become ill from playing on it. Apparently my son threw a large rock onto its stomach and his friend had put a shovel handle in its behind and was sprayed with fluid. I tried to drag it out with my truck but the stomach came open after it rained and now its a total mess! Its making things miserable around here. should i burn it or call someone or what?

ewwww that just put me off my tea! lol
I would call your local council or authorities.
Maybe there is a waste collector in your area willing to take it on?
Good luck!
ps I hope you took your son to the doctor!?!

Where are you? In Ireland you would be able to call someone out to remove dead animals, including livestock for a fee of 50 Euros.

I cannot understand why your your son should throw a stone, your son put a shovel in a dead animal! I hope you've let them both know never to do any such thing again!

You could contact your environmental services, if not ask a local vet who will know who could help remove the horse from your property.

You should probably call the police and report the problem. They can most likely have it removed for you.

You're potentially putting yourself in a very harmful situation. I would suggest that you take the boys to the doctor asap.

I can't believe you would let any children get near this animal. Secondly please don't call me or anyone else a stereotypical insult for personal beliefs and opinions. It's unjustified and uncalled for.

I can get over the fact that there's a deceased animal on the property that needs to be removed. I can't get over the fact that your son and his friend basically sexually molested a dead animal.

Call someone and have it removed asap, before you contract something that lands you in a hospital for months.

you're doing a large number of assumption and overthinking right here. you actually don't understand that those 2 adult males helped "Mr X" placed a lifeless deer on your belongings. you do not even understand that anybody placed a lifeless deer on your belongings. you could not understand that they did it merely because you "stuck them checking on" the deer. Is it achieveable they were taking somewhat shortcut throughout the time of your position and stated the rotting beast? Did you ask them about it or communicate to them once you, apparently, all converged upon this lifeless deer? the position do you stay, besides? Why did it value $six hundred to have a lifeless deer bumped off out of your belongings? Waving to be pleasant isn't a "new ingredient" to exhibit friendliness. putting a lifeless deer on someone's' belongings isn't both, whichever you've been asking.

Unfortunatly most of the services that haul away dead animals are unlikly to deal with one this far gone. If you havn't the resourses to bury it, you may try compostining it by piling a LOTTA straw over it. (check internet sites on composting).
Hopefully curious little boys who probaly haven't seen a decomposing animal close up have now had their fill.

i would not suggest burning the already decomposing animal, and because your kid and friends seem to like to play with the deceased, i would stay away from lime (the mineral...not the fruit). if you bury the horse, the shovel loving kids are just likely to dig it up in a buried treasure game. your wildlife and game commission where you live will retrieve the dearly departed.

you should really take your son to a doctor
and you need to tell his friends parents that you allowed them to play with a dead horse's body that has been sitting on your property for weeks.
then take your child to a thereapist and suggest it to your child's friend's parents. anyone who goes sticking a shovel up a dead animals anus needs major help. Seriously.

Look in the phone book for a rendering plant (they cook down used grease and dead animals to make dog food).

They will come and get the dead animal. If they won't, they would probably know who would.

if i were you i would burn it this will get rid of whatever is seeping out of the horse. there is no sense dragging it as that would spread the mess .. and get your kids checked for any disease that the horse might have had .. if it had anything. just be careful of being near dead carcasses.. burn it.. foxi

If you pour lime (not the fruit, but the mineral) all over it, it will decompose more quickly. Meantime, tell the kids to NOT play with dead animals when they DON'T know how they DIED!

Or at all, for that matter.
