Fever is the result of immune system fighting with infection. Alternative theories believe that fever is due to immune system burning out toxins which can not be eliminate d through usual outlets of body. NOw immune system can fight better, burning of toxins can be done better at higher temperature, if other systems are inactive, so that more blood supply is available. If you read accupuncture theory of which meridiens are active at which time, you will know that detoxification of liver, lungs, gall bladder is done between 9 pm to 5 am.
Hence temperature up during fever at night.

With a fever your body should stay at a steady temperature. It will be high all the time until your body gets rid of the virus. I would guess that your body in a relaxed state at night has more power to try to get rid of the virus, elevating body temperature.

with or without a fever, your body temperature always increases a bit during the time your sleeping!

Your body heats up when you have a fever to make you sweat more, which in turn flushes out the bad bacteria. Its like when you have food poisoning you will vomit and/or have the runs. Its your body's way of getting rid of bad bacteria.

I guess your temperature would raise because when you sleep your body is repairing itself. In order to get rid of the bacteria in your system your body heats up to kill the bacteria. When we rest usually at night.. that gives our body the opportunity to fight bacteria..
