I've been to America and Canada a few times and honestly I can't tell the difference... aren't they just the same country but some people speak French in Canada?

Well we have your Queen on our money, all the oil and water; tons of maple syrup; free health care; really strong beer; and a market of three hundred million Americans to buy our manufactured goods and raw commodities. If you add to this that our American cousins defend our right to exist with their awe inspiring army as well as their commitment to world freedom I'd say we're not feeling superior at all; hell we're in love with them! Consider this as well, we know their different and they know we're different; yet with the common interests and cultural foundation from your Nation we are part of a family of Nations; free and proud of it!

I'm Canadian I was raised in Florida and I am also First Nations. I for one have never thought of myself better than an American, however our system of govrenment is different, hey that is the only difference I can shake a stick at. If you ask me being part of a minority and a majority I can sure feel and see the difference. People are people some with more respect and then there though with little or no respect. Moreover, it is how you emerge from that hole you came out of, than where you come from or what nationality or color you are. Some emerge all hot and tattered while others not so battered, but nonetheless you emerge and that is something to be proud of because after all there is only of you in this whole wide world. Remember no matter how much glue you use, it will stick to what ever it is put on. But a little goes a long way and it will still do the trick. So how can we as people be so different if we all have the same characteristics or at least come to be the same way.

If you have been to Canada, you should have noticed that they are culturally/politically diffrent to Americans. The pace of life is a little slower, well it was for me in Montreal!!.BUt i also think Canadians attutudes to situations differ I.e an american is more lightly to blow your head off for tresspassing on his land, and ask questions later, compaired to a Canadian.

Canadians come across as calmer, well manored and the sort of people who wouldnt be an embarrasement at a party.. compaired to the sterio-typical amercians.

Americans have an amazing ability to irritate the inhabitance of any country they visit. They seem to 'snow-ball' thier way in, talk about how great they are, how great there country is,make a point to mention that USA criminals would kill UK criminals. They are loud, sometimes crude, ill manored, narrow minded, heavily religious, addicted to over the counter medication and fast food, demanding like spoilt children and lack the wisdom.(this is a general opion, as im sure there are some good american's)

I think generally, Canadains think they are better than Americans the same way we in UK think we are better than Americans....

A canadian once told me:
NASA spent millions developing a pen that will work in space, finally they created a pen. The americans were pleased at thier achievement........ In Russia when they went into space, they used pencils!!!.....

Perhaps its also because they feel they are more tougher , due to the weather changes... maybe that once it was part of the Queens empire??.

Canadains, i found on whole a pleasant bunch who's only vice i see, is that they have a bit of a 'mothering' country thing going on... which i believe is why the Gay Canadain guy on big brother comes accross as being patronising etc...

Canadians are more warmly welcomed in other countries than americans.

Canada is cleaner.

Americans think Canada is lucky to be our neighbor and they are insulted by American arrogance so they develop some of their own arrogance.

It’s like the rich kid that lives in the big house with a swimming pool and a rich kid that lives in a big house with a pool table.

America’s current politics is conservative and Canada’s current politics is liberal.

There are a lot of jokes from both sides but the Canadian jokes tend to be more serious.

I personally think Canada is one of America’s biggest states so we’ll have a place to put our French.

Its got something to do with all the snow in Canada......it freezes their brains for 6 months outa 12....so they only think for the other 6 months that they`are better than the Americans....or you could say its a 50/50 split.

I guess they're just proud of being Canadian. Americans tend to think they're better than everyone else on the planet. I'm American and patriotic, but Americans can be very arrogant about being Americans sometimes. No wonder why everyone hates us.

each and every thing you've reported is controversial and a count number number of opinion. not anybody hates human beings. there is muddle on Canadian streets too (I stay the following). There are wise human beings from both international places, and absolutely everyone who thinks each and absolutely everyone are stupid is merely as ignorant because the persons whom they declare to be ignorant in the first position.

Generally, our feeling of superiority - where it exists - stems from radical differences in the systems between the two, especially on the issue of tolerance and the individual's role in society.

I have given a better answer to this in the past. I will find it and edit this to include it...

In this day and age why does anyone think they are better than anyone else as we are all supposed to be equals. All the new legislation's regarding equal rights people should just take their noses out of there butts.
