If it continually shuts down after using it for awhile, it could be overheating. 99% of all newer motherboards have built in heat protection and if the processor gets close to the 'fry' point, it will shut off. If you're comfortable with it, take the case off and look your processor fan and make sure it is working properly. Also, check in your BIOS for a CPU or System Health or Status option to check fan speeds and temperatures.

- power problem : someone switch on the fan in the other room. Power regulator could not adjust and the CPU gets reset.
- Power cord is loose somewhere.
- Your RAM is corrupted. sometimes access to it gives exception and the PC gets reset (incase it is reset and not off).
- Even motherboard bus can have problem if ram test passes and there is no problem with power regulator.

If it is a computer shared with other people and it shuts down at specific times check Scheduled Tasks to make sure there isn't a task there to power it off.
