here's the thing.... the internet is not a safe place for any child to "play"... as evidenced by situations that occur because of chat rooms and blog sites.... I do not believe that these things should be banned, but that it is so important that parents be aware of what their children are doing, whether they are on a computer, watching a t.v. or existing in our world... it is unfortunate that the internet, while being a place that can provide so much information, must also be filled with so many dangers... if the interent isn't going to remove porn... which sadly inundates so many sites I would like to be able access (such as sites for video games ie:cheats, codes etc...), then it certainly isn't going to remove the violence... you have to remember, while they want to stand on "freedom" (freedom of speech etc) it is an industry, somebody is making money... and unfortunantly, though you and I may be moral in our beliefs, where industry is concerned money wins over morals as it has always been so it continues to be... I don't think it is neccasary to shelter children from all things that are of a violent nature, I think you need to know your child well enough to recognize their maturity level... if you shelter them too much they will grow up in an unrealistic world... I have often wondered why, "back in the day", EVERYBODY in town would attend an execution, including children... I think it was a way, all be it a sad one, to show children the reality of the world and of the consequences that could befall them were they to choose a path of immoral behaviors... of course I am not suggesting that very small children be exposed to things of a violent nature... but as for my 10 year old daughter, I have determined it important that she see some of the FBI and "cold case" programs, I want her to be aware that we are not just telling her these things (about the dangers of the world), to scare her, but that sadly predators do exist... however even my 15 year old is not allowed free access to the television or the internet...

I know this answer sort of took off in a different direction, but the real issue as has been said time and again... know what your kids are doing... know who they are playing with.... know what they are watching and the games they are playing... know their maturity level... talk to them and know what is going on in their world.... and then be sure that at any and every point you implant in them what is right and what is wrong...

Remember our children are our most precious commodity... they are our future... God has intrusted them to us... they are not our property, but His, and it is our job, our duty to God to raise them right...

Violent video games and cartoons for that matter should be avoided around children as small as my grandson who is not quite 3. Its obvious that this is where he is getting the idea that takeing a swing at any child when he is frustrated is ok. I have been told that he will even wale on a 5 year old. And then i see him watching these cartoons and games and mimicing the moves and without even realizeing it, he throws those moves at high speed and they hurt! He doesn't know any better but his parents should!

Personally, I think violent video games should be removed, period. Video games with mature ratings still appeal to children because of animation. In their mind, if it's animation, it's okay. And, sadly, some uninformed parents think the same way.

Our society has become so desensitized to violence because of media and entertainment. Then when violent behavior erupts at such a young age, people ask a resounding, "WHY?"

No one is taking my freedom to info or anything else away from me! So a Big NO and I have kids who do not play violent games or such because I as the parent am right there to monitor them at all times.

No. Much as I dissaprove of them, I feel that censorship is wrong. They should be removed from the internet by those that put them there out of a sense of social responsibility, but not by law.

YES! But it'll never happen. I'm sick and tired of listening to "Freedom of Expression" excuse for allowing everything to flourish and thrive to corrupt. Satan wins again!
