Current theory states that sometime when Earth was young, another planet struck it and the resulting debris formed the moon. I can't answer as to what age the earth was when this happened, but the earth is definitely older than the moon.

I think the answer that fits the question is that they are of the same age if you're going to carbon-date the rocks from the moon.The reason is that the moon was just a chip of the old earth.New theories and observations can now prove that.But definitely LIFE is much younger than either the earth or the moon's age.
