nothing, it is going to be there no matter what we do or what any president says or what anyone says. The Muslims are trying to kill us anywhere they can find us. From other answers so far, it sounds like many don't have any idea either or they would not be knocking what the president is trying to do to keep us safe. I guess some of the other people answering do not remember 9/11 where they came over to our soil and killed over 3,000 people. I would much rather our military go to another soil and kill them than for them to launch a dirty bomb here in this country but it is coming anyway. There will be a Democrat in the White House and it will happen on his watch and then listen to the people whine about why he did not keep us safe..what a mess... I am not saying that W is the answer cause he isn't, the timing just isn't right for it to happen yet but it will and a Democrat will be in the House and then it will be funny to listen to all the liberals to whine while we bury our dead.

The whole terrorism thing is being looked at from one point of view we must remember that it is not only middle easterns that are terrorist if i am not mistaken Henry Kissinger is wanted in a number of countries for war crimes and terrorism.
this war on terrorism suits the powers that be at the moment but look only 20 years ago and you will see that both so called leaders of all this trouble bin laden who is CIA trained and Saddam who at that time was a us Allie against Iran. give them 10 years and they will all be friends against everyone else.
if this is a war on terrorism why are we not seeing an invasion in to the Catalan region of Spain where ETA are terrorist or into northern Ireland to find the various organizations up there.
this is a war over oil and religion pure and simple.
all you have to do is look at the facts and look outside the tunnel vision of the UK and US media and political spin doctoring.

Everyone says that they are ready to rid the world of terrorism. They might think they are ready, but they aren't because it will take great effort from EVERYONE to stop this. Slowly peoples' eyes are starting to open and they are actually processing what is going on, which is great, but how many years have we been warned about global warming, and we are just in the past year taking serious action to stop it?
I am not going to be ignorant and say I know what it is like for people living in terror filled countries, because I don't. I do however make it a point to TRY to put myself in their shoes, (I know this doesn't compare either) but all I come up with is I can't imagine what it's like. I cannot even begin to express the amount of respect I have for the citizens of those countries. That, albeit almost a war zone, is their home, and alot of ignorant people forget, or just don't even think of that possibility.
I am American and I stand behind my country 110%. I don't agree with everything the U.S. Government does, but America is my home, so I stand behind them. Sound familiar?
I just watched on the news a few minutes ago of a hispanic teenager from Texas being beaten so badly he almot died. It sickens me that other teens his age are thought to be the ones who did it. My point being that as people slowly realize what is really going on, they need to do their little parts everyday, to make new citizens of countries feel welcome instead of scared. It is ridiculous that deep down everyone is scared to go outside of their homeland, for fear of what someone would do to them because of their nationality/religion/race.
There is no where else to go once we destroy our planet. There is no spare sitting in reserve somewhere in case we mess up. I believe the world population is around 6 billion? In ten years that number will almost double, so think of how you might be spending a whole lot of time with others that you might not want to, and then get over it, and yourself. It's not just you living out there, and you aren't the only ones with problems.
I know I am way off course there. Obviously we cannot control how our governments plan to free the world of terrorism, but I still believe that if everyone took a little time everyday to do something kind for someone that you usually wouldn't do it for, it would definately make a difference. After all we are all the same when you strip away the labels. Open your mind and your eyes, make your own NEW opinions on issues, and see how good it will make you feel to do something nice for someone else.
Bloodshed for bloodshed is not going to solve anything, only make everyone angrier, which is what we don't need!

The people in the middle east are made to believe that this life is just a trial and a better life for them is waiting in the afterlife. I think that this ideology was propogated by leaders who were not willing share their unlimited fortunes. Its unfortunate that these leaders never viewed happy and content citizens as their most valuable asset.
IT MUST BE THE HEAT...

the US needs mind its own business and stop bothering other countries about their oil. The main reason muslims in the middle east dont like americans is because we keep interfering in their countries and they fear that americans will impose american values and customs on to their people. I would feel the same way. Anways to end terrorism the US needs to end its dependence on foreign oil.

Cultural, social, political, racial and religious tolerance and respect.
Without it we will continue to fear and thus hate people different to us (xenophobia). With hatred comes the natural response - retaliation. Hence terrorism.
We have a far way to go. If each of us tries to apply tolerance and respect instead of waiting for the decision makers to do it for us the world will become a better place far more swiftly.
Peace.
Respect.

If Mohammad Jones blows up at the fruit stand, we should track down his mother, children, brothers and sister. and execute them all. Would you blow yourself up if your family would die if you did this dastardly act? These folks are nuts. The only way to maintain order with them is through fear. Just like Saddam did. If Saddam was any different he would have been killed quick. He knew how to control these freaks, but western society says he was cruel. Look at his citizens.
