i thought it was little sde??? but is it a term of endearment?

Pain and pan are two different words in French. pain means bread but that is no what you have spelled.
petit means small.
Pan has many meanings:
1)skirt, flap, flap end (of a garment),
2)section, piece, surface,
3)face, side (of a building)
But I believe it was a misspelling;
Because the phrase "petit pain" means,
means (French) roll:
which could very well be a phrase of endearment, akin to the French, "Ma petite choux".
