My friend, Julie, lives with the man she loves since November, and they are often quarreling. Mike wants her to do everything just like he wants. If she doesn't, he's sulking and saying that they must end their relationship.
Here's an example - they are going to marry. A week ago Julie was in another city and wanted to visit her friend, a girl with whom she went to college, and to invite her to the wedding. When she was near her house, Mike called and said that if Julie's friend comes, there'll be no wedding.
She always tries to avoid quarrels and makes concessions, even when it's the opposite of what she wants herself. But this doesn't seem to help.
Did you have such problems and how did you solve them?

Thank you, Danette, I think that's the best way.

Everybody has that problem she needs to let Mike know she's an indiviual with her own wy of doing things and she'll continue to be that way b/c she has choices inthe world to do whatever and however she wants. That doesn't mean there is a love lost just a independant mind!

I haven't but my daughter did. 7 years later she had to get a divorce. Controlling may not be his only problem. She needs to cut the cord now. She can't reform him by marrying him. I've seen every attempt end in failure. It will be a never ending "give in" situation for her.

Be patient and mend the relationship but if it does not work, separate as early as possible.
