What is the lightest diesel engine ?

Ive been looking at diesel engines, and i have been told the best ones to use for my project is either a smart car or VW lupo... is there a better multicylinder diesel engine, that is light and compact?(for a motorcycle/trike project)

The old daihatsu charade had a great diesel engine. Light economical etc. Will keep going forever and a simple engine. Can pick a whole car up very cheap nowadays

I do not think vvv lupto is the best diesel engine though it is powerful... check for 6 valve engine which known to be english type diesel engine

my best guess is your turbo is going out if theres no power when you hit the gas turbo gives it your power but im only guessing here

The 16-valve DOHC direct-injection engine is produced at Isuzu Motors Polska Sp. z o.o. in Poland.

The 32-valve OHC engine is manufactured at DMAX, Ltd. in the U.S.A. under the name of Duramax 6600 Diesel to power GM full-size pickups, full-size vans commercial vehicles. In addition, the Hummer H1 all-terrain, off-road vehicle newly adopted this engine from 2006 model. The Duramax 6600 is regarded as one of the best performing diesels in the US market. It has the best power and performance in its class with the segment's highest horsepower and peak torque ratings.
