Exploration of Mars, the International Space Station, and studying the feasibility of lunar habitation.

There are some fundamental problems with further exploration that need to be figured out before any real exploration or habitation can begin. First of all, even on a trip to Mars, it is unlikely that the astronauts would survive the radiation they would absorb from cosmic rays. We need to find a reasonable way to deal with this (there are some ideas, but they are not very feasable at the present time).

Second, we need a more reliable and better working engine system. See the source below. There are some out there, but problems with all of them.

Third, we need to find a suitable site for habitation (if that is what we are looking for), so we need to be able to explore what is close to us, moons and all. I do believe that there are moons that would be a better target for habitation instead of our moon.

Fourth, and final one I can think of right now, we need to have a better launch system. One that is cheaper, more efficient and more reliable. At current, the most reliable rockets we have are 85-90% reliable. This isn't good enough.

For a more immediate step. We need to regather global support for the international space station. As we can only reach the stars working with everyone.

Currently, the New Horizons probe is heading towards Pluto via Jupiter. Given the vast mystery of the outer solar system, this will probably be the next big step in terms of actual space exploration.

If you are referring to manned space travel, I see NASA as a big jumbled mess that is still relying on a thirty-year-old launch system that's not fulfilled its promise of low-cost space travel, so it's hard to see if they have any plans beyond the scheduled retirement of the shuttle fleet in 2010. However, I feel that there are a number of maverick millionaires that would like to see if a private enterprise is possible in space. It's more or less what they decide to attempt in the near future.

I prefer to call them continuing steps as scientists never stop researching about space. I think research and even more research will continue towards an actual physical next step. Maybe expansion of the space stations for futher research work.

I know this sounds dumb but I heard this a long time ago and I have no idea where it came from but it would not be suprising. I heard that eventually they were going to start packing trash up and taking it to space and throwing it out and burying it on the moon. lol i know they may stir up some weird micro organisms and stuff, but I just thought I would share that bit of dumbness I heard a long time ago. lol lol

Landing on Mars and planting trees like crazy.
Get forests growing so trees can absorb CO2 and
emit Oxygen. Then life can exist as it does on earth.

Oh yeah, Bring a coffee can of embryo's to
populate the place. Gotta hurry though. Unless
"We" on earth start to plant trees, we are done for.

these are some of the things which the humans would like to end up with but the final destiny will not be so it will lead to our mass extinction......... by any other planets aliens!!!!!.......
