people often will do something when they lie, its a proven fact. Some people will get nervous and tap there hand of feet, just look for something they constantly do.

People have been addressing physical signals. Most can contribute to revealing when a person is lying.
I would also place some trust in your own knowledge of the person. Have they lied in the past? What sort of things have they lied about, and which things do they tend to be honest about? Is it in their best interest to lie this time -- what's the temptation and payoff for them?
I also will point out that many people do not offer bald-faced lies. Instead, they offer half-truths. It is a very effective method of lying to simply give someone a bit of a bone to chew on (so to speak) that is truthful, while not sharing the information that the person is really asking for.
For example:
Q: Why are you late coming home from work?
A: I was finishing up some work and then had to stop to pick up some prescriptions at the drugstore.
[Failed to reveal that his work only took a few minutes to finish, bought birth control at the drugstore as well as the prescriptions, then spent an hour fooling around with his lover before coming home]
So you need to listen to whether someone is answering the intention of your questions, as well as seeing where potential omissions could occur.
Also, does their story make sense? Is it reasonable? Or does it conflict with typical human behavior, or with past stories they've told?
There is an awful lot to consider in the process of determining whether someone could be lying.

Well have you ever lied to someone about somethin'?
If you have, then how do you react when facing with that someone whom you are lying to?
You tend to feel unease right?
It easy to tell if that someone is lying. When she/he tells you somethin thats a lie ,he/she would never look you in the eye. Try asking the question again and this time look into his/her eyes, she would try his/her best to look away from you ,lookin at other directions avoiding even the slightest eye contact.
Their bodies starts to fidget alot, some even sweats if the lie is really a big one.
So the next time , you notice this kind of reaction comin from someone you talked to,it 's a high possibilty that he/she is tellin hiding the truth from you.
But some people are really good at lying that you would believe every word that comes out from their mouths. They would even resort to exaggerations to make you believe their words. A pathological liar is someone who has a lying habit. They would lie about many things in their life in order to gain others' sympathy or attention. This sort of lying is a habitual disease. And it can affect many people to get hurt . A pathological liar lies so well that even their closest friend would not be able to see through it.
Well just be careful whenever you meet somebody new or socialise with a new crowd.Never fall into a trap. Im not telling you that you have to stop trusting others but just to be extra careful.

For the gestures or if they don't look straight in your eyes but somes people are expert saying lies. People that are talkers could say a few lies everytime they talk, because exaggerations, omiting factors, or keeping silence are lies too, sometimes you could feel a lie sometime, it could be hard to say what is a lie and what is not, because the lies can go from mouth to mouth and it could seem being a true, but resulting in a lie. Just be careful . And listen what every people say, I would say that every person say a lie depend of the situation.

It will be difficult to know if one is telling lies. But some times lies can prove to be useful.

There was a programme on BBC named "EXPLORATIONS" sponsored by Dura cell...
there they told how to know if a person is lying...
they as an example showed the video of Mr. Bill Clinton where media asked him abt his scandal with Monica...
" I dont have relations *of any kind* with Monica ", Bill said...
the expert as his opinion said that here if Bill wud have been saying true he wud have just said " I dont have any relations with Monica "
but he added " of any kind " that shows that he was lying....
thats a single example... u can see BBC.com for more details relating this topic

When that person cannot look straight to your eyes,
When the eyes wink when being asked a question,
When the face became reddish when a question is posed, and
When a person smiles like a dog when asked.

if a person when talking constantly looks to the left, touches their nose a lot, breaks out in beads of sweat, cannot hold eye-contact, tripping over words, pauses, having to think about what to say, this is all to do with body language, big give away.

Depends on the person, but for most it's a habit you can figure out over time.
