The took out corporal punishment and make it taboo these days and people wonder why there are kids with no respect. It means that some kids are strong willed and will only respond to a good switch to their bottom. This sounds terrible but I'd rather have a kid with a bruised bottom than one blowing up and shooting up people at school or one who threatened the teacher with a gun.

spare the rod and spoil the child
Discipline is necessary for good upbringing, as in She lets Richard get away with anything—spare the rod, you know. This adage appears in the Bible (Proverbs 13:24) and made its way into practically every proverb collection. It originally referred to corporal punishment. It is still quoted, often in shortened form, and today does not necessarily mean physical discipline.

If you do noting, you get nothing. To spare a child meaningful, justifiable and approiate teachings then the outcome is far worse, for the child will have NO sound foundation to stand on. There are times when a child NEEDS proper scolding just as there are times they NEED praise. But to nothing if a child violates a rule or if their conduct is totally inappropreate then you will undoubtly be raising a child no (proper bounds.) We pay the price for our miss deeds as adults. Children are no different. They must be taught, but not abused. There is a VERY big difference. Remember nothing through nothing leaves nothing.

People! It means, that with lack of discipline the spirit of the child will become corrupt. We must remember, that our bodies are on loan for a short time. Technically they don't belong to us, but are 'God's' temples where the 'Holy Spirit' resides. If you do not discipline the child's temple then the residence of the 'Holy Spirit' in that temple has no chance to exist. Then the child's spirit is spoiled and hence the creation of a foul spirit which dwells in materialism. - think about it.

spare the rod means do not have sexual intercourse, thus preventing the birth of another child. The rest means to concentrate on the children already present

It means that if you refuse to discipline your child, it will corrupt the child. Discipline is a form of love and guidance when done in the right spirit and with the right intention. The Scriptures also say that the Father who does not discipline his child, hates him. And that God disciplines those he loves.

It means neglect or disregard of Biblical prescription of parental discipline on the child. Chastisement with love saves the child of foolish follies.

i dont know about rod.. or what he did so bad that we need to save him from it. . but i know that all children have an expiration date stamped on their neck and if you dont use them before that date. then of course they will spoil. i usually let the expiry date happen as i like to see what form of mutation they turn into.

Do not recourse to punishment and be kind to the children. By the way, it is an old proverb, and with the way children are brought up these days one wishes that it is reversed.
