Manuscript must be finished before sending it out. Find a
Literary Agent at: www.aar-online.org
Also, go to, www.publishersmarketplace.com
Must see: www.anotherealm.com/prededitors
You book does sound interesting enough to me. You must find
an Agent who is interested in the same type of materials. They
tend to put books into catagories, find one simliar to yours.
These websites will prove to be very helpful for you. I wish you
much luck and success.

I don't know the exact process for going to publishers, but I think most accept unsolicited manuscripts and have readers that go through them. One thing I would suggest (as a complete amateur) is that you check out books in the shops which you feel are in the same field or genre as the one you have written and see who publishes them, then at least you will be aiming at the right kind of publisher.
Good luck with it!

Get yourself a copy of the Writers and Artists yearbook [WHSmiths and other bookstores stock it] It's chock full of publishing houses etc. and will give you a good idea of the kind of material people are looking at and the correct way to present your manuscript
Good Luck

If you can't get a publisher Lulu.com is a cheap way of self publishing. It is a bit complicated if you don't know how to convert to PDF but worth it to see your name in print
