Yes they did. The referendum was answered no and embarrassed The New Labour Party and especially John Prescott as it was his initiative. It was supposed to be yet another step along the devolution path after the 1999 devolution of powers for Wales and Scotland.

Assemblys are a paper work generating waste of space. The Welsh Assembly is an insult to the Welsh people, it doesn't really do anything and doesn't have any real powers either! Labour is more than happy to create these organisations to take the blame for Governments mistakes in my opinion!

Yes - they despite the Government spending millions they rejected a diluted local assembly. They were never given the chance to vote for a English Parliament.

yep .. they had a vote and said no, it is basically another layer of beurocracy ... you have parish, borough, county concils before the governement .. the welsh assembly does nothing but propmote people to speak welsh, but gives free prescriptions.
