They are making a bad pun. "Right" means powerful, or correct, or right like a human right. "Left" is "gauche" or "sinister" (French and Latin, respectively), which has bad connotations. Since most people are right-handed, it just seems like the proper hand to most people and over bajillions of years, it seemed weird when people were left-handed. True, left-handed people have more accidents, but that's probably because they live in a world designed for right-handed people. Sorry about the prejudice, but right makes might...another pun. Sorry again.

Left handed people have been looked upon with suspicion since time immemorial. The Latin word for "Left" is "Sinis" the root of the word "sinister". Lefties are looked at as "mutations" and the prejudice starts in school. MAYBE a couple token chairs where the desk part is fitted for lefties, a few safety scissors which a leftie can use, etc. My own first grade teacher would strike my left hand with her ruler anytime I attempted to print with it.
"Left-handedness" comes from the right side of your brain. The right controls the left and the Left half of the brain controls the right hand. It's also been proven, Lefties have higher learning ability in subjects such as Art, Music and Languages, all right brain activities, while right handed people are better with Mathmatical concepts, theory, etc. This doesnt make righthanded people better, just different.
But its human nature to divide one large group into smaller groups and as long as there are more right handed people in the world, lefties will be discriminated against. So how come we don't have a "Leftie Awareness Month", huh?

Because americans for some reason even in schools the children who were left handed would have to use there right hand to write back in the twenties and later.Teachers would not let the children use there left hand no matter what. So for some reason the left side , hand etc,. has always been considered taboo. And the right handed people were normal. I don't understand it. People still find it amusing to come accross a left handed person. Being left handed is rare but not that rare.

It used to be the absolute belief of society that all must be right handed. Anyone left handed, like my grandfather for one, had to learn to make their right hand dominant. Since then, with understanding that some people are left hand dominant, they have let those left handed people continue on without the need to correct them. But with the mindset that using the left hand was wrong, and the fact that so many people are right hand dominant, it was sort of natural that society adopted the saying wrong handed. But even that's changing. This question is the first time in years that I've heard or seen the expression "wrong handed."

There are a lot of old wives tales about left handed people. Like, left handed people owe the devil a days work. Or left handed people walk close to the devil. This has to do with the old saying that Lucifer sat on the left hand side of God. When I was a child people actually tried to force a left handed child to be right handed.
Actually left handed people are in the right mind. Since the left side of your brain drives the right side of your body and visa versa, left handed people have a stronger right side of the brain so their in the right mind, (ha, ha).
The left side of the brain controls your logic and mental capabilities used in school work or in your job, but the left side of the brain controls your subconscious, your creative and artistic abilities, and visual spatial abilities.
Left handed people use both parts of the brain more than right handed people do. Lots of times artists will be left handed. Did you know that the majority of US presidents have been left handed.

I suspect I'm borderline ambidextrous, I can bat left-handed although I do that better right-handed but when I try to throw a ball with my left it feels goofy as hell and am told it looks even goofier - like a sissy or a (no offense, ladies)girl.
Write southpaw or brush my teeth? Not a chance. By the way...how'd the term 'southpaw' come about, anyway?
Notice that lefties prevail in baseball and other sports?

I'm lefthanded and it's so stupid. But the reason they say that is back in the day, the people who were thiefs and murderers, etc were left handed. Also, the sheath for swords used to be carried only on the left side for all the right-handed people. For it to be on the other side was considered underhanded and sneaky in battle, so they never let lefties fight in battle. Bad luck... A bunch o' crap!!

Folklore has it that left-handed people are evil and hooked up with Satan.
I'm left handed and if you knew me you'd know I'm not and evil type person. And probably many lefties that you already know can say the same.
But no matter what it's all about to be lefthanded, it's not easy to live that way. This is definitely a righthanded world.

my best friend is left-handed. Have you ever seen them write? There's nothing wrong about it. Has anyone ever wondered about how oriental people read "backwards" from the way we do in the U.S. They are also known to be some of the most intelligent people on the planet.Could this also mean that we should look at dislexia in a different way? Maybe they are actually a little bit smarter than average. I know my best friend is! (It's still fun to make fun of her. She looks so retarded when she writes!)
