The BEST marine plywood would have 8 or 10 ply layers and glued with a marine epoxy and then Sewn and Stitched..
Very hard to find....

marine plywood has even better glue than exterior or interior but for your use it really won't matter because the wood will be covered by the cushion and upholstery.

I would suggest sealing whatever you use well with at least two coats of marine paint, and keep it as dry as possible. There is also a new product called 'penetrating epoxy' that protects and even repairs rotted wood. It is a two part system that soaks well into most materials and when cured, gives the material the properties of epoxy and can be filled, patched, sanded, etc.

Just about any wood will be fine if it is protected from the sun and moisture. Eliminate places where water stands and doesn't drain away. Check for the reason the old wood in the seats failed. Make some changes and try again. good luck

Marine Plywood or pressure treated plywood.
Both are expensive.

i personally would use marine plywood and coat the entire piece after youve cut it to size with a 2 part fiberglass resin (they sell them at k mart)to seal it up good
