You should go from a bottle to a plastic beaker with a leak-proof ****** attachment. Remove the bottles from the kitchen and only give him the beaker. If he refuses it, he gets no milk, and he'll get that message inside 24 hours. I honestly wouldn't worry about getting a 2 1/2 year old to drink out of a glass - our son is three and still drinks his milk from a beaker with a lid. Every child will give up a sucking cup in time and drink out of a glass, there is no rush. Do you know any 15 year olds who still drink out of a bottle? Or any 7 yos? Let him enjoy being a toddler and all the advantages of being that age. No child will accept being a 'baby' when they realize what grown-ups do, and he will need no encouraging at all.
Also, toddlers break glasses - save yourself the expense.
Donny W below, you don't know what you are talking about - kids in Europe drink milk at all ages, not for the protein but for the calcium (and because they like it).

There are cups called "Sippy Cups" that are invented for Toddlers/Growing Babies Graduating out of the Bottle! They are well-made Plastic Cups with the magical ability of being SPILL PROOF no matter if thrown/shaken/held up-side down/dropped....they come in various shapes, colors, & cartoon characters/fun child friendly designs. Easy grips for young children. The cup comes with a Cover for it & a small mouth piece to which where the liquid beverage comes out from when what else but only SUCKED. The mouth piece is not a straw nor is it a rubber/soft plastic regular bottle nipple either. You ought to check this product out!!! It works wonders with the little ones....=) They love it & we adults in turn love it too for all it is.

First and foremost...he doesn't have to drink milk. In North America milk is pushed. In Europe or Asia, people hardly drink milk, in comparisson to North America. He gets his protein from other sources. Secondly...if he doesn't want to drink out of a glass, then let him be. If he is happy drinking from a bottle so what, it won't have any psychological implications if he keeps drinking from a bottle. And who cares what others are saying! What you could do, is shop together for a "Favorite" glass/cup. Something with his favorite cartoon, super hero, or animal on it.

It's been 20 years since I've been in your shoes, but don't they still have "tippy cups" - the cup with a cover and a little outlet that the kid can kind of even suck on? Also, try putting liquid in it that he really likes...chocolate milk....Koolaid....whatever it takes at first. Good luck. It will happen. Look on Ebay. Maybe there is something out that is much newer than I know of!

Tell him that bottles are for losers and glasses are for winners!!! Then smash his bottle on the floor and hand him a giant glass! Proceed to give him a high-five and then do a little funky dance around the table with him.
