A twist on the usual 'Who do you think will win?' This time tell us what you most hope will happen in the final. Try to keep it at least vaguely realistic, please.

Mine is another stunning performance from Zidane, with both sides playing well and France winning with a late goal -- Zidane, of course, for a suitably spectacular end to his international career.

A first minute goal by Zidane means Italy cannot sit back and defend, though unfortunately France seem keen to do so. Italy storm the goal, so we see some beautiful shots against the woodwork and just over. On a rebound though, Henry scores a second for France just before the break. Italian frustration about this leads to a sending-off just moments after. A free kick by Zidane results in 3-0 to France. With half-time, the Italian fans and players look shattered.
After a Lippi pep talk, the 10-men Azurri squad continue their storm on the goal, and this time Barthez makes a mistake and the Italians are back in the game with a Totti goal. Henry almost makes it 4-1 right after, but the Italian keeper saves his 30-yard shot spectacularly. With 60 minutes gone, Ribery sees red for diving into the goalmouth (taking the ball with him) and five minutes after Gattuso scores 3-2. France try desperately to hold on to their lead now both sides have 10 men, and Henry is replaced by an extra defender. This isolates the sole striker, Trezeguet, who can't put his Juve experience to much use that way. The Italian storm yields another goal, when Del Piero scores from a free kick, 5 minutes before the whistle. It's 3-3 when we go into extra time. From a penalty, Trezeguet scores 4-3 in the 98th minute, but a 4-4 (Inzaghi) after 104 minutes and a 4-5 (Pirlo) to Italy in the 119th minute give Italy their fourth World Cup title. France are dejected, but congratulated on having played a part in probably the most exciting World Cup Final since 1966. Italy meanwhile are torn between happiness over the brilliant Cup win and shame about their corrupted national competition - but all that adds to this match being remembered vividly.

My prediction is really close to seems a dream. Now De Rossi is again eligible to play, Lippi could choose his favorite 4-3-1-2 with the best line-up (De Rossi, Gattuso, Pirlo in midfield, Grosso and Zambrotta on the wings). I guess France has few chances against this team, and Italy is going to a square win. Something highly impressive and never seen before in a WC final, as 4-0. No matter about scorers or man-of-match, Italian issue is team spirit, 21 out of 23 players have played this WC, 10 player have scored. Here's great team spirit, Sunday night hero could be Grosso as well as Zambrotta or Camoranesi...
No madness, pure dream or over confidence at all.
With this tactic Lippi crushed Holland (3-1) and Germany (4-1) in 2006 friendly matches before WC starts. Other impressive result I perfectly remember are 4-1 (Ajax, Champions League '97, and Monaco, Champions '98) or even 6-1 (Milan, in Milano, 'serie A' championship '98). The 'dreaming' part is... Italy it's likely to play with 4-2-1-1 ;-)
Let's have a great match and good luck everyone!

I would say Italy will win the WC, Germany getting 3rd place.
To be honest it will not be a spectacular game, and Italy will score from a free kick or a penalty. I don't think that the french can break down Italy's defense. The lack of accuracy in the Italian midfield will make it impossible for them to score so I would say 1-0 for Italy.

Italy will play on a great defending and goalkeeping, while the France strikers will not be able to passed it..Zidane will face a tough job to do while Pirlo and Totti will make a disaster to France defence...

(2) to give England's Roonie the "Coolest Man of the year" Award
(3) a Medal of Obedience to Thieri Henri for following his instructions to the letter and "dive France" to the Final
(4) A Bull-S. Award to the English for having come up worth the widest variety of excuses for their comical performance in the WC'06
(5) A Medal to Portugal for being the most naive team in the tournament for believing that the whole thin is UNbiased
(6) An award for myself for having made the decision in the beginning of the tournament NOT to watch the WC a decision made during the WD of 2002 thereby saving me from a lot of disappointment. (because biased refereeing disappoints. Wise up, man, wise up....... I have !!!!)

They discover that both semi-finals were rigged (I dont believe it, but you said I could dream), Italy and France are automatically booted from the tournament, and Germany and Portugal play in the final. Germany wins, 5-4, after being behind 4-3 in the 60th minute. The goals would be as such: 7th minute, Klose, Germany 1-0. 16th minute, Pauleta, 1-1. 18th minute, Podolski, Germany 2-1. 33rd minute, Maniche, 2-2. 40th minute, Klose, Germany 3-2. 54th minute, Figo, 3-3. 60th minute, Deco, Portugal 4-3. 78th minute, Klose, 4-4. 91st+ minute, Ballack, Germany 5-4.
