The true racists are the ones who seek to stiffle intelligent and reasoned debate. The tragedy is that if they succeed in stifling debate no solution can be found and no one will ever learn how to live in peace together and find asnwers to the problems of both sides.
What we need is not human rights lawyers and liberals but an intelligent lawyer (is there such a thing) who would argue the case for these people who stifle debate with their accusations to be found guilty of racism. Then we can start to talk to each other freely.

(this is how it works in the UK)
in the last few years the peoples rights movements have gained a strong footing. this means minority groups can at time have greater political say and be heared. this is a good and bad thing. good in situation like disabled accessibility, but bad when a single person asks a question that is deemed not politically correct.
also you have to realised how England has always worked. immigrants have always been hopping over the channel since boats where invented. most notably the Saxons where immigrants looking for a place to settle.
now if you look back into you resent history you will find the same concerns where ans in some place still voiced about all the Commonwealth citizens seeking UK redidance.
now every country has it tolerances to change or for those that are different to them. places that are compilation such as most 1st world country's have a great deal more tolerance than others. again this is due to the influx of immigrants.
now the good side is that new ideas can be spread and new inventions made. some world famous scintists where never born in the county the made there discoverys. this is the good side.
the bad side is in part what your question is about.
which as i said the minoraty goups have more say than they did have. and that can mean greater say than the majoraty.
cristanaty encrages tolarance to others. (may not have done in ages pasted but duse these days.) this is not true in othe parts of the world and with outher relgions.
hope that answers you question.

Because the loony left have sucessfully taken over all levels of government. Anyone who doesnt want fullscale immigration and a complete removel of all things english must be a racist.
It has a lot to do with liberal white guilt - Muslims, Blacks, Asians are consistently allowed to make statements that their white colleagues would get the sack for. Racism against the English is allowed/encouraged, because they "deserve it". Blacks and asians fight in Birmingham not really a drama - BNP riots in blackburn/Bolton got a lot more response from the government.
My colleague is an asian and probably the most racist person I have ever met - and is well known for it in the workplace. If I as an englishman had said anything even approaching what he has said then i would be long gone.
An absolute farce

In my opinion it depends on how discussion is done. And of course there is always some people "against anything", especially in public discussions.
If you discuss in an objective way and with respect, you know, you are NO racist, no matter what others might say.
I could brand you as racist now - ARE you a racist, if I do so ? NO ! I could say, you are an a**h*** - are you an a*** only if I state it ? Surely not.
The rest is moral courage. If you feel to discuss the influence of Islam in your country, do it ! Do it with anyone interested, but also with Muslims.
To know each other - discussion, a good way - the best way to peace.

The trouble with a lot of the discussion of Islam in Britain is that the terms of reference are set soley by the few fanatics, and it's very dangerous to suspect all muslims based on the actions of a few swivel-eyed wackos who dress up their risible sixth-form politics with the veneer of a religion that, for most adherents, is one of peace.
However, these wackos do exist, and we urgently need to talk about how we can prevent them getting through again, but it's too easy to slip into unthinking Islamophobia, and this is what is condemmed by the 'politically correct'. Listen to any serious news programme on telly or radio, or read a serious newspaper, and you'll see that robust but intelligent criticism and debate over these issues takes place on a adaily basis.
As for democracy, there's absolutely nothing to stop you setting up your own political party and getting out there campaigning on the issues that float your boat. If you get enough people to agree with you, you'll do well, and can influence the laws of the country. Merely whining about the 'death' of democracy is asinine.

I don't know. There has been so much trouble with different races that the instant anyone says anything against another race, it is seen as being racist. I think that free speech should be allowed, but where must the line be drawn? Should people be allowed to shout in the streets about not wanting other people in their country? Should it be kept to people's homes? Should it be kept quiet in the privacy of your own thoughts? It is a sensitive topic and whatever answer or rules are chosen about it, there will always be people who don't agree.

Because everyone is so darned terrified of offending someone that they are no longer able to separate freedom of discussion and opinion from racism or other prejudice. I think, for example, it was quite brave of the Conservative party in the last UK General Election to have posters stating something along the lines of 'putting controls on immigration is not racist' - which is absolutely true.

Fine, discuss Islam but don't make it a racial issue - there are many white muslims in this country who wouldn't fall into the category of 'immigrants' as the fascists like to brand them. From hearing/reading all the discussions recently, it seems to me that people only have a problem with Islam when it's practiced by brown people!

yes, there are more muslims in our country than there were before, but why is it a problem now? im in the uk, the only reason why this problem is coming up now is because the government want sufficient fear and prejudice against muslims to carry out their hair brained schemes over the war on terror. it is not an 'influx' as you suggest. the papers just talk about it more. the percentage of muslims as a whole of the population is around 3.5%. so get real.
